Visited this wonderful location on BH Monday. Everything about it is typically wonderful English country side ideal for a stroll picnic in idealistic surroundings. Unfortunately spoilt by one factor.
At noon on the Monday we witnessed rubbish bins full and overflowing to the extend that rubbish was strewn across the pathway with paper cups and small amounts of plastic blown across the path and inevitably into the lake.
It seems the cafe are very responsible and attend to their own bins but no local authority collection occurred for the bins around the lake. Agree we could all take our rubbish home but bins that are provided surely should be emptied at such...
Read moreEasily accessible from the A2044 Woodhatch road, this is a lovely place to visit. There are two lakes, both of which have plenty of ducks, swans and the occasional Canadian goose. You can walk round both lakes, but part of the walk circling the top lake is not wheelchair-friendly. Read moreLovely place to visit for a walk. We parked at Earlswood common but parking is limited. Although if you wait a bit, you will get a parking space. The Lakes Cafe offers refreshments as well as duck feed for £1. Enough benches along the walk to sit and enjoy or bring a picnic blanket to relax. If you want a short stroll, which is what we opted for as it was very windy and chilly when we reached, you can just walk around the New Pond (Lower lake) . The path is clearly marked.
