The Strand Gate — Attraction in Rother

Winchelsea is a beautiful location to visit when in East Sussex, just by walking the quiet streets a lot of interesting history becomes evident. The Strand Gate, built in the early 14th century, would have overlooked the old port of Winchelsea when built and would have been a clearly visible impressive structure when first seen by visiting ships. Well preserved medieval gate at the southeast corner of Winchelsea, from which there are excellent views over Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and Camber Castle.
