Strand House is an amazing place. As soon as I arrived after a 3.5 hour journey via the M25. I instantly relaxed. Kelly and Alex are wonderful owners. We had agreed to get there between 5 and 6. Because of the traffic, we ended up getting there for 7. I was worried, but Kelly dispelled this an instant. With her warmth and hospitality. The House I instantly warmed to. I saw pictures of it on the website. But it was even better. The first words I said was. It is home from home. Although it is on a busy road. As soon as you go up the drive, you leave the hustle and bustle. You enter an oasis of tranquillity. You enter, and you are immediately drawn to the comfy sofas and chairs. Where you can see yourself kicking off your shoes after a busy day exploring. The dining room where you have breakfast has a number of small dining room tables. Ample for a hearty breakfast. Kelly and Alex produce a wonderful breakfast. My wife and I are vegetarians, and there was a great option. Vegetarian sausage, tomato, mushrooms, etc. Great way to set you up for the day. Plenty of toast, orange juice, and tea. To give you all the energy to set out for your days adventures. Think of this. You do not want to go out to eat. But order a takeaway. They have laid out cutlery and a big jug of water, just for the occasion. Due to no fridges in each of the rooms. They have a fridge in the dining room where you can take small milk bottles where you can put fresh milk. For teas and coffee in your room. My wife loved this touch. The driveway is ample and accommodates the guests that are staying. Full House, and it can be a squeeze. But with common sense, you can get around it. A lot of establishments we have been to do not have on-site parking. So this was a great plus. You cannot beat its location. We went to Rye and Camber Sands for the day. So quick to get to. If you want to use public transport there is a bus that goes nearby. I will easily recommend the Strand House to friends and family. Check it out and see for yourself

We stayed here for 6 nights and had a truly exceptional stay. We thought it was perfectly located to use as a base to discover some of the south east . The house has so much character and charm and Alex and Kelly are warm and engaging hosts who made us feel so comfortable and well looked after. They have painstakingly and sensitively restored this property and really opened it up for guests to enjoy. Breakfast was especially good and the menu was a real treat, not just your average offerings! We had one really warm and sunny day during our stay and had breakfast in the garden. We returned back there in the afternoon to read and have a couple of drinks from the honesty bar which was well stocked and thought out (ice, bar snacks, chopped lemon for your gin and tonic). Our room was super comfortable, the towels were very soft and fluffy and we had a beautiful and newly done bathroom. We ate at the New Inn (about 10 minutes walk away) several times and can highly recommend there for lunch and dinner. We thought that Winchelsea was a very picturesque and peaceful place and we really relaxed there. If you want to stay in a charming place full of character then this is the place for you.

This lovely house, sitting just outside the ancient village of Winchelsea, is a wonderful place to stay. The room we stayed in was beautifully and sensitively restored, with all the wonky charm of an old, old house. Owners, Kelly and Alex, could not have been more welcoming. When we asked about some strange-looking BBQ/tables in the garden, we were astonished to discover a pretty unique connection to Guy Ritchie (yes THAT Guy Ritchie). These are fire tables, designed by Mr Ritchie, and Alex fired one up for us to cook on one evening. It was magical. Sticking with food, the breakfasts were absolutely delicious. There are also snacks and drinks available, paid for on an honesty box basis. We had come for the weekend to do some cycling and swimming, but would return for the fantastic hospitality at this beautiful place. Thank you!

There is so much to say about Strand House and it’s all very positive!||From the minute we arrived we were met by a warm, friendly, host Alex. He welcomed us and our little Daschund like we were long lost friends. A fabulous welcome after a four hour drive!||He showed us around the property and also showed us the new Annexe they are currently renovating which has gorgeous views over the fields. That will be stunning when finished later this year!||Later we met Kelly our other host who was as warm and friendly as Alex. Both had great knowledge of the area and surrounding villages and nothing was too much trouble.||Pros||- A lovely old house with original beams; fireplaces and wood burners and six rooms (including a four poster)|- A bright breakfast area with doors out to the patio and gorgeous garden which has some lovely tables and chairs and also a couple of BBQ areas you can use |- There are some blankets you can use for sitting in the garden |- A comfy sitting room with games and a beautiful large fireplace and burner|- An honesty bar with various drinks and nibbles|- It’s very dog friendly and they don’t charge you a penny more! That’s really unusual and our dog loved it there (see the photos!)|- The breakfast menu is a delight - as is the food itself |- There are little extras like plates and cutlery to use should you come home with a takeaway etc|- There are little doggy treats available for your pooch|- It’s a very short drive away from the gorgeous town of Rye or about 7/8 minutes on the bus (No 100 or 101 takes you straight to Rye)|- Bed was very comfy and the bedroom had hospitality tray (tea, coffee, biccies etc). A hairdryer was also available and shower gel in the bathroom. A useful Guest Arrival Guide was available |- Parking is right outside the house |- WiFi is available |- They knew it was my birthday and a lovely card landed with my breakfast||Cons||We only stayed two nights! ||One final point to note, look out for the sign as you go around the corner - we missed it twice! This is something Kelly and Alex are aware of and already reviewing. ||All in all, a lovely stay in a fabulous home and two gorgeous people for hosts. I’ve taken lots of photos to show this lovely B&B. ||Thanks Alex and Kelly! We had a...
