Nice local historical site to visit, the remains of a Monastery that had been built in the 1100s. This area is found in the Priory Woods, and isn't that busy, so a good setting for photography or a picnic. Signs are up on the site to explain the history of the ruins and the well in more detail.

Had a lovely walk around the priory and surrounding areas and finished off with a sausage buttie in the cafe area, plenty of choice, toilets and pay to park, definitely recommend

Beautiful site of interest. Sandwell Priory was a small medieval Benedictinemonastery, near West Bromwich, then part of Staffordshire, England. It was founded in the late 12th century by a local landowner and was only modestly endowed. It had a fairly turbulent history and suffered considerably from mismanagement. It was dissolved in 1525 at the behest of Cardinal Wolsey – more than a decade before the main Dissolution of the...

After living in the area for 38 years I never even knew this place existed! Walked around swan pool many times and never came across this place one! It’s a little out of the way to the usual route around the pool or to Dartmouth park but I suppose it worth a look and a read about the past history of the area! So if your out walking your dog or with the kids it’s worth a little detour to...
