The area where Amazonia is based is easy to get to. The sat nav takes you strate tongue theme park. However Finding Amazonia is a bit of a mission. We had to drag the children through the arcade then back outside before we got to the front doors.
Entry to Amazonia was quick we were the only ones in the que. Card machine was on holiday so had to pay cash. Just under £20 for family of 4 and 2 seniors so not to pricey.
All the animals looked well looked after and there were an abundance of monkeys which the kids liked. The nocturnal section was a bit of a let down with hardly any animals on view. Unfortunately this was the trend for the rest of Amazonia. Seven empty displays and repeat displays of animals that were on show on already.
The parrot talk was interesting and kept the kids entertained for a short time.
On leaving you have to go through the shop so it is a case of drag the kids out before they want everything.
Would we visit again?
If all the exhibits were in use with no repeats the...

In fact it is one dingy room, with animal cages crowded together. Inadequate spacing between cages and jumbling different types of animals together mean there are strange anomalies like a python across the way from a cage of tamarinds. Unhelpful for my monkey-loving snake-fearing son.
Website also makes it look like Amazonia is a separate attraction with its own restaurant. In fact it is part of M&Ds theme park and only accessible after walking through TWO Arcades and a "restaurant" - actually a "family" pub style. Something of a disaster as we had brought 2 children with specific needs to whom this was sheer hell. We ate there because there was nowhere else but one of our children was too stressed to actually eat. Never...
Read moreNice but rather short lived, quite a few of the enclosures were empty and there were no ants either.
The layout is pretty good, although the enclosures in general are too small for the animals, perhaps these two factors are related? It doesn't help that there are unruly children with useless parents running riot, but that's not the fault of Amazonia.
To be honest the whole surrounding area at Strathclyde Park could do with investment as it's all looking a little run down and tired. If I were Amazonia I would look to make a serious investment and move premises to somewhere larger and in a better location, it has so much wasted potential. Being indoors it is ideal for the frequent bad weather days we get so it has this advantage over the outdoor animal parks.
The staff were great and very friendly which is...
