A hidden gem. Visited these on the 14th May 2016 and part of the National Trust of Scotland network, it is a credit to hard work of those who look after these gardens. Situated on the west coast, the gardens expand from the coastline back to the cliff which acts like a walled garden. The Rhododendrons and Azaleas are extensive & stunning. The grass borders were edged and cut to perfection, while the gravel paths meandered throughout the various ponds within the estate. Easy access to the low lying formal gardens for those with a walking disability and takes about 30 minutes to take in. The woodland area rises above the flat gardens which is accessed by a narrow (2 feet) gravel path that meanders through well established borders and wooded areas. Coffee, teas and food were next to the entrance in the nearby Loch Melfort Hotel which has stunning views...

What a fantastic place to visit and pet friendly. The garden, even well into Autumn, is beautiful. There are several walks all coloured and well signposted with surprises around every corner. Located on the Arduaine peninsula the garden provides advantage points to view the water surroundings and islands beyond. It was clearly laid down many years ago but today's helpers are bringing an ancient garden back to life. The quaint garden paths are a feature in themselves and weave in and out of a plethora of plants, trees, and flowers in a most magical way. Even the path from the carpark provides some fantastic shaped trees and a view of the ocean and leads to the entry point where polite and helpful staff provided suitable information to enjoy the visit. Love it and will return....

These are lovely tranquil gardens. There’s a wildness to them that I like - not too manicured overall, with lots of different areas to explore. There’s a lovely viewpoint where you can see across to lots of different islands that’s worth finding although the path is slightly rocky and goes uphill - not suitable for wheelchairs or the average buggy! We visited when social distancing in place - v quiet so no problem with this, although only one loo (the disabled...

We’ve been through many botanical gardens, from Texas to California to Florida and Hawaii. Shocked to discover that this gem on the West Coast of Scotland is one of the best. Perfectly maintained, and filled with a seemingly endless supply of flowers and plants. Blooms were beautiful, and the trees were magnificent. Worth the fare. Make sure you have at least an hour. We raced through in 30 minutes and felt that there was much more to see.
