A great lunch today at Loch Melfort. The view is worth the 30 minute ride south of Oban and the beautiful gardens of Arduaine are next door. Dog friendly, a relaxed space in the bar & lounge and a more structured dining room. Only disappointed that they don't do Sunday Lunch although hopefully it will be back in the Winter when the tourists have returned home. Today we ordered the vegetable & prawn pathia, the pea 🫛 risotto and a bruschetta (although not much flavour in the cheese and peas are an unusual choice yet no tomato 🍅 which was odd). The dessert of Raspberry Cranachan Meringue was really delicious. The service was attentive and our table has been reserved in the window overlooking the loch and out to sea. We spent £78 for 2 (1 x glass of wine and 1 x coke) and with 3 largely vegetarian choices it was at the higher end of what we would normally spend on a nice Sunday lunch (£40 a head compared to £25 for example). Overall we love the views, the food is good (could include a steak easily and make some roasted tatties without much challenge as it's on the a la carte). So we will definitely go back but when we see the posts on Facebook telling us about their rare roast sirloin of beef and Yorkshire Pud).

We were looking forward to eating at the Restaurant at Loch Melfort Hotel, even though it was only lunch. Weather had been crap all week and our choices of eateries hadn't been the best this trip (we visit this area at least twice a year). My fish and chips were good, and you can see from the photo that my wife's mussels look tasty, and they were. Only problem was the size of the portion. We've been to places around here offering twice as much. Considering 20% of them were inedible because they hadn't open too, this was disappointing. Told the waiting staff, who said they would let the Head Chef know. No apology, or any comment back. I've been reading a lot recently about the younger generation and their inability to think "customer service". We both come from a customer service background and it's sad to see what I read in real life. All this said, the quality is good and I'd still recommend it. Maybe an evening meal with fine dining would be a better experience.

We stopped on our way along the coast more by accident, as we were looking for a view point to enjoy the amazing landscape. And what a surprise: A little gem, inviting you for a coffee and a cake in the most beautiful place. Great view, tasty cake and nice service. We were spoilt by the weather, but there are plenty of tables inside, with the same great view.

We really enjoyed our trip to here, we all had fish and chips on the veranda which was really good and a decent sized portion. The view is fantastic and after lunch we walked around the gardens which were also lovely so all in all a perfect place to while away a few hours while in holiday, we'll definitely be back. Also my dog was unfortunately sick on the patio and the waiter was fantastic and cleaned it up without any fuss whatsoever, kudos...
