Camperdown wildlife centre is a staple of growing up in or near Dundee. Returning on this day as a day out with my youngest son for his 1st birthday, it represents great value for money for children up to 5 or 6 years old. Older than this, I don't think it has the factors that would keep them entertained for more than an hour. We loved seeing everything here though and will happily come back again in the future for when we need something to occupy a few hours. Lastly, we stopped at the café for some food and cake afterwards. The food was simple and tasty, just what you need with kids (our 1 year old loving the ham sandwich and loving a cheese toastie for example) and a fairly significant selection of tasty treats to boot. All in all, 4 stars as I already knew my expectations and balance it with the cost. Don't head here expecting a full day of fun: 2-3 hours is what you are getting if you stroll around at a decent pace and spend some time at each attraction.

The zoo is okay for young kids but any over 6/7 would definitely have more fun at the play park. The cafe I would avoid next time. The girls who were standing to serve just stared through you. 5 of them at least behind the counter just watching while 1served. They have a Sign up to say any allergy/diet requirement to notify them asked if the had anything for dairy free which they don’t. The £5.75 kids sandwich meal is pathetic half a disgusting ham sandwich made with the cheapest of bread, cheap frube yoghurt and packet of crisps with a little carton of juice. Defiantly a waste of money on it. The girls serving really need trained in cross-contamination and service. none wore gloves while preparing anyones food, chucking the hands in the dishes that had the vegetables In, now there was spoons in them dishes but for quickness they didn’t bother. Using the knife that cut fresh baguettes to then cut all the baguettes that had food on them. No knife washed just placed to the side to use again. So hopefully no one else with an allergy went in after that. They also used the knifes to scrap up of crumbs/salad stuff into the hand and place them back to use. And to place 2 roasting hot pots of tea in front of a 3 year old child was a joke. Had to ask for cutlery since they expect you eat with bare hands. So would return for the zoo but give the cafe a wide birth and take your own food probably safer.

The play park is brilliant. The zoo part, well.. it's been hot today, and no one told us that basically none of the animals would be out. We saw a turtle, the bear came out for literally 30 seconds, couple of goats, and some birds. Monkeys and wolves and stuff were hiding. Few empty enclosures filled with weeds that were a foot ft high. I get it, animals may want some shade, that makes sense but the thing is, it'd just be nice to be told that beforehand, we had to pay full whack and the kids were bored in seconds. We heard other families saying the same thing. £22 for the family. I appreciate that there was an on site cafe, but it's super basic 🤷♂️ just sandwiches, wraps n soup.. The play parks are brilliant and they are spread apart so there wasn't too much of a crowd at each. The wee shop is really basic 🤣 I'd definitely go again, but it'd only be for the park. I wouldn't go to the zoo again, and I'd definitely not eat at the café lol. Place could be amazing but it's just lacking. There's a couple of places fenced off too.

lack of parking went here on holiday whilst staying nearby. no signs for disabled parking anywhere - did ask once inside and was told where it should be but admitted everyone parks there due to lack of signs !! not impressed as due to health condition , i need to be able to open driver's door fully - was constantly worrying whether car would park next to me and stop me getting in my car to go home. unclear from admissions if there are concessions and to whom they apply (i have blue badge , receive PIP and am also appointee/ carer for disabled son ) . park itself was a pleasant enough wander - kids scratchcard quiz is impossible as there are no questions to see anywhere. gift shop very limited . really needs more seating in the cafe and room for gifts - hard to see purchases in narrow corridor where people pay admission and leave, plus you have to queue in admissions to pay. would benefit from re-arranging layout.

Play park facilities are great, something for all ages. Vast space of parkland for dog walking, ball games. We also visited the zoo. Whilst not massively expensive there unfortunately weren't a lot of animals out..I guess though that's difficult to control but disappointing non the less. Those we did see however were quite impressive and the information provided on each animal is detailed.. There's also a questionnaire for kids which most did use. Can't justify 5 stars on that basis and also the fact that the food in the cafe was very expensive (£7 for a panini!) With that in mind would suggest you either eat before going or take a picnic. Definitely worth a visit though, great for the kids during holiday and weekend time.

This wildlife Centre is so underrated. It has loads to see and do and for £20 a family ticket can you entertained all morning or afternoon. They've put in place a sort of one way system for covid measures but it works really well and you can wander around at your own pace spotting everything there is to spot. The animals all look really happy, there is loads of space and all the pens are clean! The baby gibbon there currently is possibly the cutest thing ever and the wolf pack working as a group is really sinister to watch! There is a random peacock roaming the site too which is great and adds lovely sound effects to your day and the 3 bears never fail to disappoint! Can't recommend enough 😊
