An historic home saved from dereliction by Historic Scotland, now displaying collections including fine paintings from the National Galleries of Scotland. Although the family history, and the time as hotel and sanitorium, it's perhaps the fine collection of paintings, porcelain and furniture that is the main draw. Works by El Greco, Raeburn, Gainsborough and Reynolds as joined by candelabras by Storr and Chinese and English porcelain. Read moreThis is our heritage, James 2nd Earl of Fife our 5 times back great grandfather, the first of the Duffs to properly live there, so it was an extraordinary feeling to be wandering around this house with ancestors looking down on us. Scottish Heritage has renovated Duff House brilliantly, everything beautifully restored and presented. Lots to look at and study, nice tea room and the sense of yesteryear is still strongly there, a bonus. Personal favourite was the dining table set up with crockery bearing the Duff coat of arms. Read moreAwesome looking palace. If you love old art work this is the place for you. No backpacks allowed inside. But they do have several lockers you can use, for no fee. They have a short video you should watch before you go in, it explains a lot. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and are willing to answer any of your questions.
