We had an amazing time on the Chainwalk! It was challenging but very fun! A little bit of a walk to find the start but all part of the adventure! Be sure to check the tide times and go within the low tide range to stay safe from the waves. Also, know that there is no safety harness so, if you fall, you fall. There are some very high drops so a good deal of confidence and physical strength is needed. I'd also wish to say it's not suitable for young children, mainly because of the lack of safety harness, but also very importantly there can be some big stretches needed to reach the foot holds and little legs may not manage! The chains can also be a little slippy to hold! Honestly, I'd say children as young as 10 may manage but I'd be more inclined to say 12+ just for safety. The views along the walk are outstanding and the environment at times feels otherworldly with jagged rocks and deep caves. It's just pure adventure and I'll definitely be returning! Highly,...

Good fun and unique way to experience the coast at Elie! Just the right level of difficulty.

It was 1.5hrs to complete one way. You must go at low tide to be safe and gives you the option to go around the chains if you need.

Found it difficult to find the start, it’s not well sign posted at all. Even when on the chainwalk itself, it’s not always obvious where to go next.

Best to park at Elie holiday park which is free and about 15mins walk away along the coastal path. You have to go down a steep hill (what3words: oldest.vaulting.hurricane) to a grass verge where the sign is at the start. The other option is to park at Elie (Ruby Bay) and walk 45mins to the golf course, then go along the beach until the rocks and you...

Lovely short but challenging scramble if you’re up for a challenge and some views

Distance: .5km but with steep ups/downs by the seaside Check tide timings as uncrossable during high tide

To get from Edinburgh: 1 hr train to leven A bus comes every hour that takes 20 mins to go to the area Walk 3km to chain walk Alternatively take taxi from town with local services (note no uber/bolt/freenow) est cost £20 Permit 2 hours to cross chains If time allows you can do the reverse Children can do it too as we saw families around Dogs can’t do this obviously but they can manage the...

Amazing wee adventure. It can be hard at some points but nothing extreme. Gloves recommended
