As part of my 60th birthday presents, my daughter's had arranged to take me to see The Enchanted Forest. It was my 1st time and totally loved it.
My daughter's had been before to see the event, which they totally loved, and to check how disabled friendly it actually was.
With being disabled they had bought a ticket for disabled parking and they said it was so much easier doing this than getting on a bus in Pitlochry.
The Stewards/staff were so very helpful and friendly. A couple of times when we had stopped to watch an attraction, they would approach us and speak to me asking how I was enjoying the experience etc. which was very nice.
Last year when my daughter's went (it was raining) and they found a few parts of the walk slippery. But this year, I had no issues with the walkways. One Steward explained that from the money raised from previous year's they reinvest money back into the Event and they had upgraded the walkways 😊.. which meant that 1/2 way round when the rain came on this year, there was no slippery parts of the path while finishing the experience.
I would totally recommend this event to anyone, especially people with mobility issues 😊. I've found a few (while being on holiday) have stated Disable friendly but were not exactly 100% easy to do/use/experience. Definitely no issues at The Enchanted Forest,...
Read moreI visited Faskally forest on a sunny afternoon and enjoyed a relaxing stroll around the scenic Loch Dunmore. There are many different types of trees, and a variety of wildlife to spot. I saw kingfishers, herons, and ducks on the loch. The forest has two main trails: the Dunmore Trail and the Foresters’ Trail. I chose the Dunmore Trail, which is an easy-access path that follows the loch shore. The trail is well signposted and has a firm, smooth gravel surface. It is suitable for wheelchairs, pushchairs, and bikes. The trail is about 0.75 miles long and takes about half an hour to complete. Along the way, there are benches and picnic tables where you can stop and enjoy the views. The forest also has a car park, which charges £1 for up to an hour or £3 for all day. There are public toilets, shops, and cafés in Pitlochry, which is about a mile away from the forest. The forest is easily accessible by car or bus from Pitlochry. There is a sign for ‘Faskally’ on the B8019 if you are heading north on the A91. I had a lovely time at Faskally forest and would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and picturesque walk in nature. The forest is also home to the Enchanted Forest, a light and music show that takes place in autumn. I would love to come back and see it someday. Faskally forest is truly a gem of Perthshire...
Read moreIf you have a long journey to get there then I suggest you book early.
Once you arrive at the pick up point, it's a struggle to find a parking space. The booking time they give you is more of a guide... I booked for 9 but it was closer to 930 before we got on the bus and this is due to the cue system they have there... Don't ask me how it works cos I have no clue. When you do finally get there it is quite impressive to see, the way the forest is all lit up is spectacular but you soon realise that after 150 yards nothing is different... Don't get me wrong, I like a tree lit up by a coloured light just as much as the next guy but it's very repetitive... VERY.
What I will say is they have spread throughout the forest maybe half a dozen or so "light shows" each with an 80s keyboard soundtrack attached to them, now most aren't too spectacular but there are 3 which if you pay attention they are really quite impressive.
All in all, I would recommend going if you lived near... You were staying in a hotel close by, you have kids or you fancy seeing something different. And like me... You'll...
