We arrived here after walking the Glenfinnan trail from the viaduct. As it was Friday afternoon in November, we didn't expect much open/around. As we were just reading the map and museum info. A man from the museum asked if we wanted to go in the museum. As we had literally just finished walking for the last hour or so, we weren't ready to do anything and responded politely. However, his response was definitely not what we expected!
'Well, we built the trail, but whatever' and went off in a huff.
This wasn't what we expected at all. It put a downer on our day, which is a shame, as the trail and view of the viaduct is nice. It does need work, though, as due to its popularity, it is heavily used.

Absolutely loved our visit to the Glenfinnan Station Museum! Itโs a small but wonderfully curated museum full of fascinating railway history and local charm. The displays really bring the past to life, and stepping inside the restored carriage was a real treat.
A special mention goes to the incredibly friendly car park attendant who welcomed us with a big smile and helpful tips for making the most of our visit. Itโs rare to get such a warm and genuine welcome these days, and it really set the tone for the rest of the experience.
The museum itself is in a stunning location right by the famous Glenfinnan Viaductโperfect timing if you catch the steam train passing. The cafรฉ in the old railway carriage is also a lovely touch and a great place to relax afterwards.
Highly recommend a visit if you're in the Highlandsโgreat for train enthusiasts, families, or anyone who appreciates a bit of...

Hamish also showed us how the old signalling system worked using the old lever frame cleverly hooked up to screens in the signal box which was such a fun setup. He then gave us a look inside the museum and was a real pleasure to talk to.
Lunch in the old dining carriage was a real treat ๐๐ฝ๏ธ superb food and incredible cakes ๐ง๐
