Lovely quiet area to walk with children and popular with dog walkers. Nice little family of swans around there at the moment which is lovely to see.

Kilbirnie Loch Kilbirnie Loch is a well-used local amenity catering for diverse sporting activities such as canoeing, fishing and rugby, which is played on the playing fields at the loch shore edge. The loch is approximately a mile and a half long and half a mile broad and north end forms the boundary with Renfrewshire. Generally access for canoeing is taken from the north end of the loch and a path has been created by the Garnock Canoe Club to facilitate this through the Council’s Community Outdoor Access Grant Scheme. Unusually the Loch has it’s main source, the Maich Water, entering at the same end as the Dubbs Water which drains it. The site is currently managed by the Kilbirnie Loch Management Group which is comprised of local individuals and groups alongside representatives from North Ayrshire Council. The site is also a popular bird watching location. Bird watching interest on the loch itself is mainly focused between late Autumn and Winter while some of the more common waterfowl such as Mallard, Tufted Duck, Coot and Mute Swan may be spotted on the Loch throughout the year. During the Winter species such as Tufted Duck, Goldeneye, Widgeon, Teal, Goosander and occasionally Smew and Scaup may be spotted. Gulls are a common feature on the open water alongside Cormorant with Grey Heron often sighted...

Where does the mindset to desecrate every outdoor space come from ? the recent cafe/toilets facility is a welcome addition and we look forward to the touted further developments including an...
