Have known about this place but more Overtoun House which is side by side with this, but had not been before. There is a small selection of paths that can be followed cross crossing the hillside with some great views south across the Clyde and beyond. When you get higher up there are lovely views to Ben Lomond and the Arrochar Alps. For those feeling more energetic then you can continue to Loch Humphrey and the Doughnut and more. Open hillside or short woodland walks are both to be found here. Paths were well defined although signage is there it could do with a little more but that is a minor criticism. A little bit muddy in places but mostly good surfaces, so good for walking the dog. If you go on a Friday or Saturday then the cafe at Overtoun house is open but alternatively take a picnic and sit on one of the benches. We will be back.

Amazing part of West Dunbartonshire to visit with friends or family or to walk the dog. Large area to walk through ranging from forests to valleys and hills. You can walk starting from Dumbarton straight across to strathblane at the other side of the hills.

Lots of great paths and trails to follow. Few suggested routes of various lengths and all in loops so you don’t have to trace your steps. Some places a little boggy. Excellent views over the surrounding area on a good day.

Had so much fun doing this today! Started at the Overtoun house and made my way to the bridge which was very cool if you cross it and go to the right there’s a path that takes you down under it .. After that made my way through the woods which has lots of brilliant scenery and old bridges and waterfalls n stuff it was like a proper wee adventure lol! .. After I made my way through the woods the path takes you all the way upto the hill part which had some brilliant views especially when the sun was shining .. Follow that all the way it’s mostly grassy and it takes you to black linn reservoir where again the views are unreal .. Had a wee rest and back down again the feet are sore after it but was well worth it can’t wait to...

Go pass the gate near overtone house. You need to walk along the grass path and some muddy stairs in order to climb up to the top. The scenery is spectacular at the top. But when you go down be careful about the slippery slope, as you walk along the turf. The views is however worth the effort. Best bring some...
