Nice museum. I made the mistake of getting a bargain price cup of Earl Grey in the museum first. As I was finishing a few bus-loads of folk on organised tours arrived. Not a massive museum and caused congestion. Not their fault or the museum's at all everyone well-behaved etc. Interesting displays. Read morePerfect sized museum: pick one section to explore in depth, or if you prefer you can easily go round all of it in an hour or two to get a great overview.
The museum is clearly divided into sections, which the reception staff explain when you arrive. Topics include ancient and local history, the incredible Shetland Bus story, crofting and lifestyle, and local crafts.

The museum ticket will also allow you to enter the Scalloway Castle just across the road.
There is a nominal entry fee of £5 per adult -...

It's well worth the modest entrance fee and despite the building being of average size, you could easily spend a couple of hours inside reading all the information displays.
Highly...
