Seton Collegiate Church is one of those hidden gems that feels almost untouched by time. Tucked away among trees near the coast, this peaceful medieval church is beautifully preserved and full of quiet charm.

We wandered through the grounds first — a mix of ancient gravestones, wildflowers, and soft sea air — before stepping inside to admire the stonework and the sense of stillness that fills the space. Built in the 1400s for the powerful Seton family, it’s steeped in history, but never feels crowded or over-visited.

It’s easy to imagine the centuries of stories held within its walls, and the staff were lovely, happy to share details about the architecture and the restoration work.

If you love history, calm places, or just a peaceful stop on a coastal drive, Seton Collegiate Church is a wonderful discovery — small, serene, and...

Seton Collegiate Church was the most beautiful and meaningful setting for our wedding ceremony. The space itself is absolutely stunning, filled with history, charm, and a quiet elegance that made the moment feel truly sacred. The grounds are so well kept and peaceful, offering the perfect backdrop for both the ceremony and photos.

We were especially grateful for Alastair, who was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process and an absolute star on the day of the event. His knowledge, organization, and calming presence helped everything run smoothly and made us feel completely at ease.

We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect place to begin our marriage. Seton Collegiate Church will always hold a special place...

A small car park tucked away off the road and a 200m wall through woods on tarmac surface to reach the entrance. Once through the gate you are in a walled precinct with well kept lawn and different individual trees surrounding the church. As others have noted plenty of different birds flit around in the trees and by the dry burn side. The church itself has some interesting displays inside including an old bell and inscriptions. Outside, there is the priests lodgings and a glimpse is Seton Palace. Behind the church are remnants of the old palace set into a sheltered wall. A single toilet is available and it was...
