My husband and I had the most magical experience here. I am part of Clan Ross on my maternal grandmother's side, and knew when I made it over to Scotland from the states that I absolutely had to check this place out. My husband and I were walking around very unassumingly just taking in all the rich history in this beautiful space, when Jason came up to us, looked right at me and said "are you a Ross?" That question was the absolute turning point of our visit. He took as ALL over the museum and graveyard sharing with us amazing fact nuggets about the past. Just completly out of the blue I found out that Patrick Hamilton was burnt at the stake for being a protestant in the 16th century(On my mum's side of the family we are connected to the Hamilton Clan). There is a Chapel with wonderful stained glass windows and memorials to people connected to Tain. We were able to park right outside the building and enjoyed the several buildings that have so many interesting artifacts on display. The memorials inside Collegiate Church are fascinating but the most poignant was the booklet made up of photographs of those young men that were lost during WW1 that were depicted on the roll of the dead memorial.
