It was a very rainy day and a continuation of seemingly endless rain these last couple of months. So I took a dog walk on the red route which I really enjoyed as did Willow my lab. The estate is well presented but today was wet and muddy under foot. There are other walking routes so I’ll probably visit in the summer as there is much more to explore. I’m not keen on the many ‘Dogs on leads’ signs everywhere as this excludes folk who have control over their dogs but maybe there’s been problems with dogs worrying livestock🤷🏼 who knows. Nice shop lots of goodies on sale and a very pleasant woman serving. Went in for a coffee ended up spending £22 on coffee, bread, tablet etc… I last visited over 50 years ago with my parents it was one their favourite places. Parking £2.50 all day or £15...
Read moreLake circular walk does require care watching the pathway however as the view of the water was pretty non existent, watching the pathway in fact did prove to be the highlight of the walk. Butterflies several, froglets dashing into the undergrowth, once you get your eye in they were easy to spot. Conditions though for a flurry of blue damsel flies was the highlight.
Must compliment the dogs on leads policy the estate has in place.

Read moreWhat a fabulous place to visit! It is walking distance from Coldstream down a long driveway. Otherwise, it is a very reasonable £2.50 to park. Once there, you're spoilt for choice! There are fabulous walks around the 500 acre park and lake, interesting outbuildings which teach lots about the history of the estate, an adventure playground that children will love, beautiful pottery shop where you can actually see the potters creating their pieces and a delicious tearoom.
