The inside of the glass house had some very interesting and unusual plants and it was well laid out but I would've loked more information on the plants that didn't even have the name of the plant/tree which was disappointing. The outside gardens are beautiful with good pathways around and plenty seating areas to take in all the beauty surroundings, it was a lovely sunny day but too cold at this time of the year to linger but can imagine what it would be like in full bloom in the summer months. I must say the outside area is so much worth it than the inside. Plenty parking although not many disabled spaces, plenty toilets also. We ate in the cafe but didn't have much vegan choices, there was a choice of vegan sausage or soup, the sausage was actually very nice, mum had a roll on bacon which was delicious she said. The customer service or knowledge about the food on the menu was terrible, we weren't greeted as we entered or a goodbye upon leaving and it's these little things that make a huge difference, to us anyway, so a wee talking to the staff would take a few minutes but would make a...

Was on my way to pay the 30 quid (there were 6 of us) but the receptionist shot out of her chair like we were there to Rob the place, rushed out to greet us - "have you made a booking?" No, I didn't know I'd need one. "No? Well it's £250 for a photo shoot I'll have to call the administrator".
I should mention at this point that there were just the 6 of us - No "photographer" it wasn't a professional photo shoot we just wanted a few pictures while we were still dressed in our gladrags, on out phones!
Fortunately there are plenty of places in and around Dundee that don't charge you £250 for a few selfies.
To be fair, we'd already decided to leave by the time "the administrator" informed that it's £125 an hour for "events".
Long story short - I've wandered round this place many times (and taken photos) and it's okay as far as botanic gardens go - I'd still recommend it for a relaxing casual visit - but if you want to turn up dressed up, they're going to assume you're there for an "occasion" that warrants...
Read moreDundee Botanical Gardens (late April) have a stunning location overlooking the Tay railbridge and the small airfield. The gardens give a quiet, calm but adventurous journey through parts of the world and habitats with gorgeous shrubs and trees, Eucalyptus from Australia / New Zealand, Rhododendron from Himalayas and other world regions. Star magnolias, rhododendrons and lots of shrubs and plants are blooming, oxlips, daffodils, primroses, delightful. In the middle are Scottish habitats from above and below 600m. The glasshouses have tropical plants-for-people in bloom, gorgeous bananas, coffee, cocoa, rubber and many large, beautiful specimens. There are a dozen raised bed "allotments" tended by local residents and one of 25 City network orchards, apples bursting into bloom. I love the place. £25 for a year of visits for a family, £5 individual admission,...
