We visit quite often and usually it's good for the type of restaurant it is. We find it handy with having 2 young children. Not sure what has happened since our last visit but I think today's will be our last. We ordered 2 children's chicken nugget meals, 1 large and 1 small, 1 x Jack burger and 1 x luxury mac n cheese. All arrived quickly and hot plus service was good. BUT the small chicken nugget meal was larger than my adults luxury mac n cheese. The mac n cheese literally consisted of 5 forkfuls. It was served in what can only be described as a side plate/shallow bowl. Also I'm unsure as to what's luxury about it. It tasted nice enough however. We questioned the size with the server and again at the bar but we're told that was the correct size. Dissapointed that we spent money to come out for tea and I've had to come home and make myself toast.

Tidy Pub, friendly staff and good variety of food. Wonderful outside sitting area. Inside is a kind of indoor playground which I have never seen before like this and I thought it looked great. It was very busy and it got very noisy with all the people in there which I am personally not a big fan of. Once we got our food we were a bit surprised that some had ordered the same dish but yet the one had the Rosemary fries as advertised and the other one had the chunky chips. The one got a wee bowl of coleslaw the other one didn't. And a few other things like that with other dishes. The food was tasty but unfortunately the rosemary fries had not the slightest hint of rosemary on it. All together we had a good time there and we would go back there if we ever travel that direction again but than I hope the weather is nice and we can sit outside.

We were in Dundee and "googled" for somwhere to eat nearby so we headed to The Riverside Inn as it had lots of parking , the staff were nice the place itselfe looks nice, the website, menue also looks good, and the girls enjoyed a glass of wine outside however the wind blew us inside where we ordered food which came fairy fast ,two of us had the mini grill but the quality of the gammon and chicken was very poor they had cut the dry chicken and gammon into a rectangle sort of block that looked so clinical i can only imagin both were cut of of something much bigger , after one taste of each i gave up and just eat my egg and peas, now i should add this place is not expensive at all , and when the waitress took my full plate away, not a word wes mentioned ,i think it is a familiar sight for them . the food lets the whole place down.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this wonderful pub with my elderly parents, my wife, and our 1-year-old son, and I can’t express enough how delightful the experience was. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by a bubbly young lady named Courtney, whose warm smile and genuine kindness instantly made us feel welcome. What truly stood out was her connection with our son—unlike the usual eye roll we sometimes get when bringing a baby to a restaurant, Caroline’s eyes lit up, and she immediately engaged with him. She even got a smile out of him, which made our hearts melt.

Despite the pub being full of diners, the service was prompt and efficient, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The quality of the meals was exceptional—everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into both the food and the customer experience.

What really set this place apart was the dedicated area for kids to play in. It made it so much easier for us to enjoy our meal knowing our son had a space to keep him entertained. But it was Caroline who truly made our visit memorable. Throughout our stay, she went above and beyond, checking in with us regularly, making sure my parents were comfortable, and ensuring we had everything we needed. Her warmth and attentiveness turned an ordinary Wednesday lunch into something really special.

I hope everyone who visits this pub gets the privilege of experiencing Courtney's service. She is a true gem, and we will definitely be returning thanks to her and the overall fantastic atmosphere....

Came here today to enjoy a Sunday roast and I’m appalled by the service we received. Greeted by the manager who looked like she did not want to be there and left at the table after she threw our menus on the table. Trying to order from the app and realised no table numbers so had to wait for a member of staff to ask, slightly silly having an online ordering service and not providing the one piece of information needed to order. When our starters had come out there was a slight mix up with a gluten free meal from table opposite us, this was quickly rectified within 2 minutes however the manager made it clear she was not happy with the server who had made this mistake. As I have a gluten free family member, I’m aware that managers should be the ones to serve and care for these allergies, this however clearly was not the case here. The manager then proceeded to discuss this incident with another 2 members of staff, in a very rude manor, in front of our table. Absolutely disgusting behaviour, and this woman should rethink her career choice. Tables around us were not cleared for 20+ minutes while staff stood around chatting, baring in mind there were people waiting to be served. One table asked for a card machine and after waiting 10 minutes had to approach the bar themselves. Our server, unfortunately I did not catch her name - a lovely young blonde girl, was absolutely fantastic and we made sure to thank her for her service on the way out, the only member of staff we saw with a smile on her face our entire...

I generally don't leave reviews but my experience at the Riverside Inn in Dundee today was so shockingly unacceptable that I feel motivated to do so.

Most of the items on the menu were unavailable leaving little choice, probably around 1 in 5 of the mains were available (we were informed that they have had supply chain issues for several days/weeks - they should have really told us about this on the phone when we booked so we didn't have to waste time driving there).

After waiting over an hour for our food to arrive, the quality of our lunch was seriously sub standard. My sister ordered the macaroni cheese which quite frankly looked disgusting (please see the attached image). To add insult to injury, the dish was supposed to be provided with a side of sweet potato fries which our waiter "dropped" and we were then told this was the last portion they had. We were offered a replacement but declined as we just wanted to leave as soon as we could.

Without having to ask, we were given a 20 percent discount off of the bill. This was how bad it was. Embarrassing for them that they were even open...
