National Trust site with a great beach for a walk or just to take in the great views. Park at the National Trust Car park in the village and walk down the lane about 1/2 mile. You can also access the coastal path to Bossington Hill from here.. Please don't drive down the lane towards the beach there is no vehicle access any closer to the beach and no parking except for residents. Best access is from the National Trust car park in the village which has a flat rate charge of £5 payable in cash or by phone. There is also a toilet block here. The beach is made up of a stone bank that protects the marsh and farmland behind. The beach was the scene of a crash landing of a Junkers 88 in the second world war that was shot down during its attack run towards Bristol. There are also some bunkers from the war to the back of the beach to explore. The beach is built up of ridges that can be quite steep in places due to force of the waves here. Very strong currents so alright to stand in but don't try swimming here. There is a river that disappears into the beach at the rear but this has in the past breached the bank. Great fun building towers of stones and spectacular views taking in Porlock and Bossington Hill. We spotted A couple of native Barrel Jellyfish when we went in early June. Top Tip 1. Wear appropriate footwear like trainers it can be unstable in places. Top Tip 2. If you want to stay on the beach I bring a couple of yoga mats and put up a beach tent as it can get really hot with the sun's heat being reflected from the stones Top Tip 3. The car park is quite small so get there early to guarantee a place.

Great beach, very quiet and so beautiful, would recommend parking at NT Bossington and walking down,it's a short walk on good paths. The beach is purely pebbles of every size which could be hard going if you're not fully mobile or have a pushchair etc. There is a path that runs for most of the way behind the beach which is easier going and means you can hop onto the beach wherever you fancy instead of walking on the pebbles all the time. So much to see and find here, we found an octopus (sadly not alive) and loads of cuttlefish bone and obviously you have the lime kiln and pill boxes. A word of warning please don't be tempted to go in the water and this probably applies to dogs off lead too. The current is very powerful and the pebbles very loose underfoot on dry land so underwater would be extremely risky. Our pooch is very much used to swimming in this kind of scenario and always on a long lead, please don't be tempted just enjoy the beauty of what is around you.

Beautiful location, very quiet as only accessible on foot. The beach has lots of 'shelves' and is very pebbly - with big pebbles at that. This isn't a complaint as it's nature, but not so suitable for families wanting a dip in the sea. Walk along the beach and you'll see a pool formed by the River Horner which then makes its way underneath the pebbles. Check out the concrete pill boxes left behind from the war. There's a couple, both of which you can go in.

Great place to relax and let off the pressure. There is a National Trust car park so it's free to members and £3 for a full day for non members. The only other option is 2 hours for £1. From the car park, you can take a walk by the river (not suitable for prams) or take the walk through the village which is also very beautiful (and more suitable for prams). The beach itself is stony as are most beaches around here. The stones are smooth and are around 2 inches each so that should give you an idea of what it's like to walk on them. You can either sit and take in all the sounds of nature (birds, waves crashing on the beach, wind, etc) or you can take a walk along it and there are even some ruins of an old fort...
