Sadly, it seems all great institutions are doomed to fail eventually.
This was a great place. An excellent spot for sustenance following a walk around the breath-taking Bossington. Nothing fancy - and it neednât be. Cheese and ham toasties, ploughmanâs, Brie and cranberry if you were feeling adventurous. Multiple types of jam with cream teas.
Alas, these times are no more.
Gone are the simple and effective crowd pleasers, replaced by a bizarre and confusing set of concoctions, presumably dreamt up by a chef who has been fired from every job theyâve ever had. Tofu and pesto ciabattas. Mezze plates consisting of four tomatoes, raw pitta bread and garlic mayo. And for the most egregious of all the malpractice, there is only one option for jam: strawberry. You donât have to have spent much time in this part of the world to know just how offensive this is.
This is a lovely setting in a lovely place. Yet even this cannot salvage the bastardisation of this place. I, standing with my fellow dudes, call for the owners to return to the simplicity that made this place what it was. Heed my words: make kitnors great again. Until that day, sadly, I shall not...
Read moreMyself and my family went for lunch at Kitnors on 26th August and I must say the main meals were very nice. It wasnât until we ordered desert where it became really bad. 2 of my family members ordered the treacle tarts which came out burnt and didnât taste very nice. As the waitress came to collect our plates we mentioned that the treacle tarts werenât very good, as an observation and feedback for future customers. The waitress was pleasant enough. We paid our bill however whilst walking out of the front door we weâre confronted my an angry female (presumably a chef) stating the treacle tarts werenât off. At no point did we say they were off, we said they didnât taste nice and felt they had just been zapped in the microwave. The chef said the tarts were fresh out of the freezer đ¤đ¤đ¤ to which I then pointed out they looked burnt on the edges. She was very rude in her approach and didnât apologise once. It really spoilt the day- she has no customer service skills at all. If you want to go to Kitnors just make sure you donât complain as you will be met with rudeness and aggression. Poor poor poor. We will not...
Read moreI only stopped at Kitnors for a quick cup of coffee on a motorcycle ride and normally I don't expect much when I buy coffee I'm not going to be brewing myself and I have to say I was surprised how outstanding it was. The blend, designed by the owners, has a robust flavour tempered with an amazing degree of subtle flavours, if you're a coffee fan then it's well worth making the trip for.
I had a french press followed by an espresso, I've also taken some beans home with me and made a few cups with a moka pot. As you'd expect from different brewing methods the coffees flavour did differ slightly for each brewing style but I'd be willing to go as far as saying that each coffee is one of the best I've had for the brewing method used.
The attention to detail for something that most people wouldn't even consider that important (how many people think about the beans/roast used for their coffee) really shows how much the owners have invested in making a simple tearoom into something much...
