Grenoside wood is an amazing wood, beautiful pine trees and even better views. I was allowed to take my dogs there for a short walk. The wood has become a very popular place to walk with people walking their dogs in the middle of the afternoon and the quiet, shady areas are well used by the residents of the flats. As well as the dogs the wood has a strong cat presence as I can often see moggies wandering the wood with owners.
There is plenty of bird life, robins, blackbirds, finches and small white wagtails for the small ones. There are trees that have dropped very large quantities of acorns. The squirrels love these and they are impossible to remove. They have been left there for the birds to eat, and so the squirrels have food at every turn.
I went for a walk by myself today, the dogs are too old and poorly to cope with the mud and I wanted to enjoy a few moments in peace, the dogs are not the only pets who enjoy a walk in the forest, and they are joined by their owners on the forest path. Parking is very limited so early arrival is needed unless you want to park on side of the road as it gets so busy over weekend and parking is free.
