The upper ridge decent was closed the day we went because they were using a helicopter to deliver gravel backs to create a better trail down. It's a large parking lot but they have half of it closed as a staging area for the trail maintenance. It was $3 or $5 depending how long you are parking for. No washroom facilities here. Very very busy parking lot and trail. We go there at 9am and plenty of spots stills but full by the time we started our hike. And crazy busy and long wait lines when we left (but they did have parking control there, not sure if that's just because it was a construction day). The trail was very muddy covered rocks, so good footwear a must. There are few small waterfall crossings. The trail if pretty narrow, glad we started early so we really only had to navigate on coming traffic on the way back. But it never felt too narrow. It's a really pretty hike, you wrap around the backside of what you see from the parking lot so it's nice to walk behind there. Unfortunately it was rainy and little cloudy the day we did it so we didn't get to see all the details. We got the start of the upper ridge walk but then a storm moved in and we could barely see infront of ourselves so we turned around. For the section we did it wasn't too bad except for the last climb to the upper ridge which was steep but I'm sure the muddy conditions there...

The Quiraing is hands down one of the most breathtaking elopement spots on the Isle of Skye. You've got it all! Towering rock formations, sweeping green landscapes, and misty Scottish magic - it’s straight out of a fairytale. I’ve photographed multiple couples here, and it never disappoints.

The Quiraing is pretty easily accessible. You can drive right up to the trailhead and decide how far you want to hike. But don't worry, there are views as soon as you step on the trail, so you don't have to go far. That said, it’s a popular spot. The car park (paid) fills up quickly from mid-late morning through mid-afternoon, so plan accordingly.

For the best lighting, sunrise is unbeatable, but sunset is a great second option. If you’re hoping for clear weather, summer gives you the best chance, but that will mean heaps of crowds. Skye is insanely crowded in peak season and I know some elopement photographers won't even set foot on Skye for an elopement in summer. If you want a more peaceful experience, consider eloping in the shoulder season when the crowds thin out but the landscape is still stunning.

Whether you’re hiking deep into the landscape or staying near the roadside viewpoints, the Quiraing is an unforgettable place to exchange vows. Just be ready for a little wind; it is...

This was one of the most amazing hikes I have ever been on, it rivals the Na Pali coast hikes in my opinion in terms of beauty, views, rock formations. We did the ~4.5 mile loop where you start at the car park and go along the traverse under the cliffs and see the beautiful rock formations then it curves around into a canyon of grazing cows, then you hike up to a peak and then the trail curves back on itself but the return is along the top of the cliffs/ mountain and can go all the way to the top if you want. Slightly difficult hike, muddy, rocky- recommend hiking boots over sneakers (I do everything in sneakers and I was fine but my feet were soaked and i should have read other people’s reviews saying to wear hiking boots LOL). Also it would probably be dangerous in the pouring rain - for us it did not rain. The climb down is muddy. Overall one of the best hikes I have every done. I am a...

We walked the suggested path as marked on the information board at the start (distance is about 6.5km), with our kids (ages 5, 9 and 14). We stopped for lunch about half way, before the path went up and continued on top of the hills. The lower part was easy, with gentle incline and breathtaking views. The upper part was very boggy and wet, the path less visible so in some places we just walked on the grass. Good waterproof shoes are a must, wet places are not always visible because of the grass. There really is a lot of water there. Its also very windy. The way is fairly easy, till you see the parking and the path starts down - its muddy and slippery in many places, so you can just slide down on the mud if not careful. Again waterproof shoes with good grip are a must. It took us about 4.5-5 hours to do the walk, with plenty of breaks to admire the views, have lunch etc.

What a lovely hike. Disturbed to see totally ill equipped people taking this on. We had all four seasons in one morning, as you would expect from the misty Isle. We saw many tackling the steep climb in horrible hail with little more than a lite jacket. For those who are prepared, the hike up the Glenn has a constantly changing vista, like a mix of Narnia and Lord of the Rings. There's some challenging scrambling in places and the path runs along steep sections that show signs of landslides. Once at the end of the Glen there's a constant rise up to the top and across to the stairs down to the start. The stairs are irregular and get a little slippery in the wet. There's a decent size car park that also extends along the road.
