After a rocky start... we had paid £20 online to see the special Arnhem exhibition, not realising that we also had to pay for entrance to the museum. We thought that we would be there for a couple of hours to see it and then home, but that wasn't the case. Unable to get a refund we ended up paying the entrance fee which then meant an unexpected very expensive day out. Fortunately we had nowhere else planned to go. Next issue the tour had started without us! Noone was available to take us so we were added to the later tour. You would think after paying nearly £100 someone would make sure we got to the event. After quite a stressful morning we could at last accept the mistake we had made and start our visit. What a great place to visit. It's massive so come early and enjoy a full day. The main hangar was such a treat. You can access the interior of some of the planes, sit in the seats, go back through time, fascinating! Board Concorde and see the nose lift at certain times of the day. So many things to see, really well laid out. Next we decided to go to the American hangar. Getting on the shuttle bus was a little confusing... think there could be a clearer signage for this, however eventually got a ride to the hangar. More incredible displays and content. So much to read, very diverse, really interesting. Quick visit to the Battle of Britain and missed out on the land vehicles as the reason we came here was starting at 2.00 Thanks to a volunteer, who told us to get there at 1.00 we listened to an amazing talk outside the Arnhem display area about Market garden .... we would have missed this as noone else had mentioned it. Now onto the reason we came. The talk on market garden, it was so good. The gentleman giving the talk was brilliant, so engaging, at times it bought a tear to your eye and the next minute you were laughing. Personal items on show, original documentation and all in the group with the same passion and connection to this event. All with fascinating stories themselves. What a day it was, we both lost family in this part of WWll and found the whole talk incredible. Our experience at Duxford could've been so much better if the information you give was clearer at all points. Online, make it clearer that a ticket is required as well. The way it was advertised, looked like a separate event. At the payment desk, they knew we were booked onto a tour and noone mentioned having to join a mini bus. Extra talks... we were booked for the 11.00 tour didn't realise there was a talk before it. Thanks to a volunteer we made the 1.00 talk before the 2.00 tour. Approx times for the shuttle bus would have been helpful More information about the aircraft that are flying on the day... we missed that as well.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to fly into Duxford, as it provided me with a unique experience. Upon landing, I walked straight off the runway and into the museum, which immediately immersed me in the atmosphere. Accompanying me on this visit was a disabled passenger, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the museum offers complimentary onsite wheelchairs. This thoughtful provision made the entire experience more accessible and convenient for my companion. We spent a significant amount of time exploring the various hangars, each filled with captivating exhibits and historical artifacts. The sheer magnitude of the collection was awe-inspiring, allowing us to delve deep into aviation history. After our museum tour, we decided to take a break and enjoy a delightful homemade meal. We found a comfortable spot on one of the many benches or tables conveniently located outside, which offered a picturesque view of the active runway. As we dined, we had the privilege of witnessing numerous visiting aircraft and even witnessed some impressive aerobatic displays above the runway. However, the highlight of the day was undeniably the exhilarating sight of a Spitfire soaring past in a breathtakingly fast flyby. Although our visit was thoroughly enjoyable, there was one minor inconvenience we encountered. The distance between the various hangars proved to be quite significant, especially considering our limited time and the presence of a disabled passenger. Unfortunately, the shuttle bus service that would have facilitated our movement between the starting and ending points was out of service during our visit. It would have been immensely helpful to have this service available. Despite this small setback, our overall trip to Duxford left a lasting impression, and we are already making plans to return. I wholeheartedly recommend this museum to everyone, whether you're interested in exploring the exhibits or even considering the unique opportunity to fly into the airfield itself. The experience is truly remarkable and is sure to leave you with cherished memories and a deeper appreciation for aviation history.

Fantastic place to visit. Took my 14 year old son thinking he may it enjoy it. Instead he loved it! So much to see. Ended up taking over 400 photos. So it's easy to get to just off the M11. Your can't miss it. Entrance price is reasonable at around £26 for adult and £15 for my son. The whole place is enormous with around 7 hangars and had a runway. Old planes are constantly taking off all day which was brilliant. Spitfires, hurricanes and other WWII planes. You can get quite close for take off and very close when they are wheeled back to the hangers. The number of planes on site is ridiculous. A few favourites of mine were the Spitfires, hurricanes, Lancaster's, Tornados GR4, Lightening, Concorde (which you get to walk through), Vulcan, Blackbird, F15, Hercules, A10 Tankbuster, MIG21.. The list goes on. Apart from the planes there was a hangar for land warfare with many tanks, artillery etc. There was plenty of outside space between hangars for places to picnic and watch the planes taking off including a kids playground. Nice cafe and shop on site. Not busy at all so no queuing. So many things to see. Take a visit your won't regret it.

Lovely place to take the slightly older children. Lots to see and explore especially in the air and space. But remember to wear comfortable shoes as the place requires a lot of walking. However did see a few signs for a tourist bus but didn't actually see one. Easy access for disabled. Plenty of toilets and cafes. The only draw back was the lack of places to eat inside if you bring ur own food and the weather is bad. There was a queue at the entrance however you can beat this by joining the membership which is great for multiple free entrance to Duxford, brilliant for the children's half term as they usually have activities running, also includes entrance the hms Belfast in London. The family pass is £9.50 per month. 2 adults upto 6 children and provides funding to maintain the displays.

I absolutely love this place. Full of interesting aircraft and other items and the history behind them. Always activities for the kids to do in a wide open space. Also, as a working airfield, there is a good chance you will see some great flying aircraft too, including the incredible Spitfire ❤️. On this visit, we got to see some aircraft practice some aerobatics, which the kids loved, as did I. This place is well worth the membership fee to allow you to visit as often as you like, as well as other venues too. Love the changes they are making, in particular the plaques and new layout in the restoration hanger, which made in a much more interesting exhibit, with details of what the plans were for the items they were restoring. Never had a bad day out here.

Wow! Amazing museum, we loved it. Several very large aircraft hangers with pretty well every iconic military aircraft you have ever heard of and much more. Flat level access across the whole site and wheelchairs are available to borrow free of charge. Lots of accessible toilets and everywhere was spotless and clean. Like all attractions these days food and refreshments were of good quality but significantly overpriced. Due to bad weather the flying displays didn't happen, but I found that didn't matter because the static displays, information boards and friendly knowledgeable staff made up for it. Admission was just under £30 and represented good value for what you got. We will certainly return one day.
