I felt disappointed by my recent visit to Dartington Hall Gardens. The price was too high for the lack of activities (£7).

We went with 2 children and the map (eventually…)took us to low ropes - one of which looked broken and were very far away from everything and felt neglected. Even more so was the ‘play park’. We cajoled two small children to walk there and it was awful. Overflowing bins and one very small zip line.

The restaurant, like the parking, was totally overpriced. The smallest ice cream was £4. Parking was about £6 for 4 hours.

Even the service was disappointing- when we set off on the children’s path, we had to walk past the receptionist sat smoking there- why on earth would you choose that place to smoke??

This place feels like it doesn’t want children or...

What a tranquil place this is. It doesn't really matter what time of the year you visit as its variety and beauty are ever present. But.....I have to say the Autumnal show presently is spectacular. Its free but there is a pay box at the entrance for donations. Their is a pub and a cafe ( sadly currently closed for covid ). The Green table cafe sits across the road from the entrance and very good it is too. I walked from Shinners bridge to the Gardens and afterwards back to Totnes strolling along the river Dart. Its 3.5 miles and a wonderful kaleidoscope of colour throughout. If you aren't up to a gentle walk there is adequate parking with very reasonable charges. The gardens are a...

As. Previous music student at this wonderful place that I have been going to for around 50 years we were very disappointed to find that there is now a £7 admission charge each to walk around the once beautiful gardens. This is also where most of our families ashes are scattered with permission many years ago. Lots of areas taped off. I knew many of the Gardner's when I was a student there who were lovely people. Even the famous "triangle" known to most students of my era has been renamed. Sorry but will not be going again. The 13 apostle trees were chopped down a while back but are re growing which I know was for their benefit but will never be trees again in...
