Sadly the experience didn't live up to the smell, which was what brought us in. We ordered to eat in and looking at the photos we should have ordered to take away. Eating in results in a 'make your own' type meal with a plate largely populated with salad leaves, and to top it off you pay a near 50% premium for the pleasure.
Edit: I appreciate the response from the owner, sadly neither I or my partner received the coleslaw and both came away wishing we'd joined our child in choosing the simple butter and honey option as the bagels themselves are nice... Additionally, something I hesitated putting in the original review was the choice of using an organic faux 'cola'. Our teenager asked for a coke and we were offered the alternative version, which we purchased. Within one brief taste (we all ended up trying it) I can not fathom how a food and drink business can offer what was in that can as a cola beverage. I'm all for substituting organic ingredients if that's your priority, I'll even be ok with the increased price of the quality is comparable, however the equivalent of serving me vinegar and calling it honey only leaves a sour taste...
Read moreOrdered 2 toasted cinnamon and raisin bagels with butter and 2 americanos with hot milk. Order taker kept confusing "hot" for oat but eventually got it although convinced I ended up paying the extra for oat milk. We were then served 1 c & r bagel and told it was the last one and what variety would we like as an alternative. We chose sesame a little surprised that we hadn't been asked this question before bringing 1 out. The bagel had clearly never been near a toaster as soft and cold. This was disputed when I took it back. We then, at least, had 2 toasted bagels. I had to go back inside for knives as this wasn't pointed out when I ordered. We slowly ate our bagels awaiting our coffees. Rather than wait for them to go cold we finished them still with no coffees. When asked bout the delay we were told they were short staffed but no apology. We waited half an hour for our coffees, again with no apology. One cup arrived in a saucer with cake crumbs on it. I'm not normally an impatient person. I appreciate it's tough running a cafe but an apology or explanation of the situation goes a long way. Sadly we won't...
Read moreThe food was amazing, so five stars. However the service not great. My son had to constantly keep moving to allow what I assume was the owners to get past this happened multiple times disrupting him eating every time, so maybe reconsider the seating layout or don’t all congregate on the sofa so you she to disturb your paying customers every 5 mins, also the coffees took ages we. we were sat down trying to enjoy our food when the buzzer went off, we assumed as we eating and There was no one else in the queue they would bring them to the table. Nope we had to leave the table to retrieve the drinks. My suggestion either serve at point of service or bring them to the table. Maybe look at your serving temp also as my flat white...
