If like me you have painful and unreliable knees, the steep walk down to the beach will not feel easy, and the deep step down onto the pebbles was a step too far for me. But next time, I shall remember my stick! The car park at the top has a bench to sit on to enjoy the views across to Newgale, Broadhaven, the Marloes peninsula and Skomer Island. On a clear day, you can see Grassholm Island out to sea. Remember your binoculars for the views and some birdwatching. There are also a couple of picnic benches on a level below the car park. Taking the coast path east out of the car park, ignore the first branch off to the left - it's very steep and rutted, but take the second which will lead you down off the coast path onto the cliff path. I've only given it three stars, but if accessibility and a lack of facilities are no issue for you, then it's a five!

Lovely beach. Accessible on foot from St Davids city centre, albeit down a narrow road. There's a great car park, and you walk down a well maintained path right down to the water's edge. It's up against some immense local competition on the form of Whitesands and Newgale, and in that context, 4 stars feels right. But make no mistake, Caerfai Bay is still epic. The bay means the swell (surf) is gentler, so awesome for young'uns. Loads of rocks and rock pools to discover and clamber across, plus sand for sandcastles, so a proper bucket and spade beach! When the tide's up there's often no sand to sit on, so check timings if you're planning on making a day of it. There are no facilities on the beach, so go prepared. But there's a farm shop not far away, so you can get the ice creams in!

Best beach in the entire world. We camp every year at Caerfai campsite, second on the left when you’re driving down. It has an incredible farm shop and the best team of staff. We’ve been going for over 15 years and I wouldn’t miss it for the world. This beach has an easy walk down with some steps at the end, so isn’t easily accessible for those in wheelchairs. However you can do buggies f you carry them at the end, and also is okay for kayaks and canoes (which people often leave down there so that’s proof!)

Some of the pictures posted here are mis-leading. This is a small hard to reach beach with rocks only (no sand) at high tide. Believe only the rocky pictures. There is a steep path leading down from the Pembrokeshire coastal path and from the clifftop Caerfai Bay Caravan & Tent Park, so people with bad knees should avoid (there is small car park at the clifftop free). The Pembrokeshire coastal path walk from Porthclais to St Non is beautiful but nothing great about this beach (in comparison to other award-winning ones in...
