The museum is beautiful, it is situated in the visitors
We entered through the small back gate at the front of the castle next to the bus stop.
This gate is not wheelchair friendly and you would have to use the vehicle entrance if you are in a wheelchair which just a few yards away.
There are cameras and there is a sign which is not very clearly spelled out with instructions how to gain entry.
We did not understand and were heading away when the gate swung opened, so clearly the kind soul maning the cameras seen our confusion and opened the gate anyway. Thank you to that person.
You are supposed to press the buzzer and they will let you in.
If you are driving, then the main entrance to the back of the property has parking for £6 for the day, but entry is free.
There was a wedding in the Castle but the beautiful gardens were open. It being summer, all the flowers were in full bloom and all the benches were taken up with people enjoying the beautiful afternoon summer sunshine amoung the flowers.

And enjoyed the different exhibitions.
We forgot that the Gwalia Shops are historic and therefore you need to bring cash.

Read moreA brilliant museum, free to visit, loads to see and plenty to do.
Worth taking a picnic if taking kids or a big group,
Dependent of time of year, there are varied and interesting events to see and do, so keep up to date with the website.
The walks are beautiful and easy, and mobility scooters will cope easily too, there aren't many steep routes, and almost all buildings are at least accessible (ground floor only) in a wheelchair or smaller mobility scooters.
Plenty of benches and picnic tables around the site, and toilets are available in several places.
If you intend on doing a full visit, then I would suggest getting there at opening time, especially if you are a person who enjoys properly exploring and reading about where you are.
On site food is available in several locations, it's not too badly priced, but considering the visit is free, the food prices are expectable. However, the food is great quality...
