Dinosaur Park is fabulous and great value for money for young children. However, I’m sorry I can’t say the same for certain members of the staff team as what I witnessed there on my visit yesterday (27th August) was nothing more than abhorrent. As we were paying to go in, our party (4 adults and 2 children) witnessed a staff member abuse, yes abuse a young lady who had paid previous to us. The lady had realised she’d been overcharged and so returned to the counter to correct the overcharge as our party was paying to go in. She had been charged for her Son who was not yet 2 and so should have been admitted for free. I am still reeling from what I witnessed! When the lady explained what the problem was the staff member (an old miserable looking woman with short grey hair and glasses) accused the lady of lying about her Sons age and told her she hadn’t heard her because it was the lady’s fault for not speaking properly. The lady asked to speak to the manager and the staff member told her she would not call him, there was several exchanges of conversation (all abusive from the staff member but too much to write on here). On exiting the reception area we found the lady so upset about the way she had been treated (she was crying and shaking) we advised her to put in a written complaint and gave her our contact details telling her we would be witnesses for her. A little while later we bumped into her again and we asked her was she ok now. The lady informed us the manager had also now spoken to her but he too had called her a liar in regards to what had happened. When she informed him that she had witnesses to the abhorrent way she had been treated, the manager stated ‘you probably know them’. Absolutely disgusting customer service and as far as our whole party is concerned both the staff member in reception and the manager need to be sacked or at the very least put on the longest course about customer service that they can be. The fact we witnessed what we did not only spoiled the day for the lady it happened to, it also spoiled ours and we worried about the lady all day. Near the end of the day we bumped into the lady again and she told us another staff member had apologised to her stating both the lady and staff member were in the wrong!!! Apparently he had listened to the audio and the woman had not spoken tidy. The woman clearly had a speech impediment which I would like to inform the dinosaur park comes under the disability discrimination act. If I were the lady I would definately be taking this matter further using the disability act as guidance. A half hearted apology is nowhere near what this lady should have received. We didn’t get the ladies name but if she is reading this our offer of being witnesses still stands. You have our contact details. If the dinosaur park would like to respond to this review we would be more than happy to also give them our details which would prove we do not know each other as stated by the so called manager! On a positive note the woman on reception needs to take a leaf out of the guy who did the dinosaur show, happy and jovial, chatting to the kids which all made it extra special. As a suggestion perhaps the dinosaur park need to put him in charge of staff training which would help avoid another such...
Read moreI will start off with parking, having to get my 2 children safely from the car park to the reception was more dangerous than it was worth. Now we have made it through the first arena and proved our worthyness, we arrived in reception which contained a cafe, shop and a learning area which was a playstation 2 console playing ice age, had I just stepped through a timewarp to 2004? The shop had lots of quirky little things but not an awful lot of memorabilia, though it seems they allowed someone to sell a second hand boat sail in their gift shop.. I wish i took a picture.
As we are about to leave the reception area we head into the cafe to get a coffee before heading out where we were told to use the outside cafe, already a bit cheesed at this point, we head out and spend the next 10 minutes battling wasps in a que for our coffee.
First of all we attended the soft play area, it was well built and the kids loved it but they seemed to try cramming as much stuff as they could in this shed, build another add on for the arcade machines as its just tatty.. the shed was filled with chippings so you had to make sure your kids were careful without their shoes on, this also made it difficult as a lady got stuck at the entrance where there was a large dangerous drop from concrete to chippings causing her to get stuck.
Other attractions were pretty good but small, could have sized everything up and majorly reduced waiting times and angering parents with a low threshold.
Lack of benches and bins around the park and if it starts to rain, god help you!
As said by many other reviews, the dinosaurs are terrible, most being bright yellow with little detail and some not being life-size.
It seems they need to hire someone with an imagination who can design and decorate the park to the standards children would enjoy rather than OAP's and train staff to work with children as their communication skills were shocking and didnt attempt to communicate with children in any way.
Upon leaving soon after arriving we thought we would grab another coffee, it fell under rhe minimum spend for card but the girl serving handed me the machine and i asked "its not over the minimum spend is that okay?" They responded with "There is no actual minimum spend, the sign is there to influence a higher order so why would we care as it's just making our jobs harder!" Well it seems your staff is that fed up they can't be bothered to follow and rules or policy.. says it all.
There are other places you are better off visiting rather than this place for much better value for money and not coming home blowing steam. If i owned this business and even saw what manner the management was replying to reviews, they would be gone in an instant.
I only took one photo as it just wasn't worth wasting my...
Read moreGood day out and good business model with charging more at the gates then making everything else free.
There was a few unmanned items which in order or operate you needed to pay about 10p to use but with everything else there we didn't want nor need to pay for the and so didn't spend on anything else once in the park.
Food an drink were very reasonably priced though we decided not to eat there so can't talk about quality of food.
Selection of "rides" sorry attractions was OK and that's all I can give it. Again being included can't really complain but was expecting more, they did have though - Race cars, Bumber cars, a Tubie Run (Like a toboggan on inflatable rings), Zorbs on the Water, Indoor Soft Play, Park, Bungie Trampoline, a Maze and finally a MASSIVE netted obstacle course which was suitable for most ages.
Lastly the Dino walk and Safari Ride, these were good but our 5yr old who LOVES Dino's started to get bored and I got fed up of being eaten by 3000 different types of flies. When we did the Dino walk in WMSP last year he was enthralled the whole way around and believed they were real a lot more that Yesterdays Visit.
Pros of this Park -
Once your in everything is included or very cheap. Rides are very Inclusive from ages 3+ you can go on basically everything and that includes the adults if they want to play too. Staff are lovely. Dino Walk is interesting with signs to give you lots of facts. Food prices unlike most other parks nearby isn't going to break the bank and neither is the souvenir shop. Giant Net was very unusual and great fun.
Cons -
Dino Walk though interesting could be more fun for youngsters. Need a larger selection of Rides. Park feels Dated/Cheap compared to other parks nearby.
Overall We wouldn't rush back as we have seen the walk, BUT we are glad we have been and overall was a...
