Etherow Country Park is a family orientated place to visit as well for other groups of people whether your a group of friends, walkers, bird watchers it doesn't matter as it caters for all. Has a little cafe where you can buy allsort of refreshments and food items and in particular feeding the ducks. There are toilets at the entrance of the park. Etherow has lots to offer whether you enjoy feeding the ducks and geese, going for a walk as the park has some pretty amazing flora and fauna, as well as a waterfall. If you enjoy taking photos like I do, you have plenty of opportunity to do so. If you want to have leisurely sit-down and contemplate there are seating areas. There is opportunity to bring your fishing rod and see what you can catch. In the past Etherow Country Park was bustling with a variety events but since the pandemic this had died down but still you can have enjoyable time.

Parking available at the car park. Simply Google etherow country park car park. Payment at the machine which is at the entrance to the car park. Parking costs- 1 hour - 90p 2 hours - £1.20 3 hours - £2.30 All day - £3.60. Free for blue badge up to 3 hours Toilets available. Cafe available. Dogs allowed ( would suggest leads as its very busy and lots of birds and ducks. ) This isn't a large country park by any means. You can walk around the water within half an hour. There is a path all the way around but boots or wellies advised as its muddy in places. You can make the walk longer by going around the Ernocroft Wood which is right next to it. Very busy at weekends with families, pets and children. Great for a quick walk or a drink at the cafe.

I regularly walk here and agree that it is a lovely area to be. But, disappointingly, a lot of reviews reflect the lowered expectations us Brits have come to accept over the years. Many say 'well-maintained'. Accepted, the money earning areas such as the cafe and the car park ARE well-maintained. But the rest is sadly in need of investment - puddles right across the paths - too much litter. As someone in their mid seventies I remember public parks and other public spaces which WERE 'well-maintained'. Not any more - unless done by 'friends of... wherever'. Everywhere in Lanzarote (which I visited recently) was 'well-maintained' - no litter - clean. We need to raise our expectations, or things will decline even more.

Etherow Park is a lovely place to visit at any time of the year. It offers easy and picturesque trails around the lake. The park is bigger than it looks, and there are several woodland walks at its far end. There are numerous aquatic bird species here(including Canadian geese, goldeneye ducks, and swans), so bring plenty of bird food! There is a large carpark located at the front of the park, but it is pay and display. Also located here is a cafe which sells a variety of hot beverages and snacks. This is a good place to bring your kids, but please do note that it does not have a playground. For the less mobile, there are several benches located around the lake, but only the odd one on the woodland walks.

Great place for a decent sized walk with kids and can explore the forests on the sides of the lake. There’s a good size car park which you need to pay for, and a cafe and toilets at the entrance. There’s some toilets further up the walk too. Plenty of benches dotted around on the paths and some picnic benches further up towards the weir. Near the car park there’s a pond with ducks and occasionally some model boats which are great for kids to watch. It can be fairly muddy in some places due to recent rainfall so recommend wellies or walking boots. Dogs are allowed but recommend keeping in a leash due to large numbers of ducks and geese.

Easy to follow routes for families to walk or you may go off the beaten track and create your own walk in the dense woods. I'd recommend purchasing an OS map if you decide to wander off, especially with the nights drawing in. There are picnic areas in the main park, toilets and a cafe to buy hot & cold drinks, icecream and even bird seed to feed all the lovely ducks with. The car park is insane because it just isn't large enough to accommodate every car even with the overflow across the road. However buses and trains are aplenty right now and it is totally worth a visit.
