From a traveling to France point of view this place is not fun I am afraid. The problem is bad organisation through he port. Whatever you do make sure you turn up at least 90 mins before your departure time. They ask for 60 mins, but then you run the risk of long queues winding all the way back out of the port and, when the ferries are busy, being one of the last on board and not finding enough places to be able to sit with your family/friends on board the ship. I am only doing this feedback on Brittany Ferries as I know Condor also sail from her but I have no experience of them. Make sure you get your car headlight converters on before you leave the UK as the French gendamerie love waiting for British cars just outside the port of Cherbourg to give you an on the spot fine. Same for having hi Vis jackets for each person in your car. Coming back to commenting on Poole harbour itself, the facilities are ok and fairly clean, but bring your own food from home for your trip as there is not much quality choice in the harbour itself and Brittany ferries overcharge for mediocre quality food that is French biased. Don't get me wrong, I love French food, but there's is not cordon blue by...
Read moreThis Harbour is full of history! The views from Poole Harbour are amazing!! The history goes back hundred's of year's and locals who have been born here can tell you a lot about this fantastic place. They used to trade with Europe from here. You can feel the year's of Olde as you walk around the harbour. This place holds much to offer a young family and an older couple alike with everything at close proximity so you really don't require a car. There are local pubs, club's and school's all close by it's just a shame that just because you were born here Doe's not mean you can afford to live here. What was once considered lower classed area is quite rapidly becoming an over priced destination to stay in or live. This place holds years of...
Read moreHaving had a great boat trip tound Poole harbour (beautiful), we were ready for a tasty lunch. We were so disappointed at the grubiness, shabby tables and chairs and unappetising food smells in nearly all the restaurants and pubs it was quite dispiriting. Also there were no obvious wc's and the tourist board office looked abandoned. Our saving grace was the Lord Nelson pub which was rather overwhelmed on a Monday lunchtime. However the basket fish and chips was beautifully and freshly cooked and delicious. We didn't see the today specials of crab sandwich or we would have been tempted. So come on Poole pull up your socks and ensure that area near the boat trip kiosks are brought...
