We came here for a wedding reception and were very impressed. It's a nice location. The staff were all very friendly, helpful and efficient.
The thing we were most impressed with though was the food. Often food at wedding reception venues is a bit 'meh'. They have a large number of meals to get out at once, so the food sits for a while. It is often also a recipe that is simple to cook and plate for the sake of speed.
Not here. The food was on par to what I've eaten at high class restaurants, it was delicious. For instance, the lamb was as soft as fillet steak. It was by far the best food I've ever had at a wedding. Top marks to the chef and kitchen staff.
There's a one star review further down. This guy was at the same reception and was clearly a miserable git who hates his life and everyone around him. I don't usually do reviews but I read his and decided it was a very unfair review and wanted to tell the truth as I saw it. I love a moan about poor service or bad experiences, but here, there was none. Opinions are subjective of course, but I have no vested interest in this venue, I went to a wedding, and it was a good experience and the food was...

On arrival, we signed in at the pro shop, the staff member working showed us around the clubhouse and directed us to the driving range, changing rooms and bar area. Which was a very nice touch. (Admittedly this was on a Monday morning, so wasn’t busy)
The course was in immaculate condition, the bit of rain we had a few days back really helped to re-hydrate the course. We played the Purple tee boxes and on every hole the course demanded different kinds or shot shapes and challenges to get round the course. It really encourages you to play the course and not take out the “Big Stick” as many times as you normally may. The greens rolled true and again were in excellent condition. It is most certainly a course to be walked, but not for the faint hearted. The rolling hills and undulating holes means you rarely have an even footing. The half way house is decent. The classic Sausage roll & sandwich was welcome and tasted good.
Overall, great experience and would recommend and go back again.

Read moreLove this place. Wonderful parkland track that is being slowly and carefully developed to improve even more.
Some wonderful holes that provide a tough challenge, some open fairways o really punch a driver down and the par 3s are a great rest of your golf. If you start off the beaten track a little you won't be punished but be careful of the spots of heather dotted around the course, they eat golf balls!
Clubhouse is modern and welcoming with friendly staff and good range of food and drinks. Wonderful patio overlooking the 18 green. I think, a quintessential English club.
£30 green fees when playing with a member and an offer for twilight golf, too. Well stocked Pro shop with a friendly and welcoming pro to boot.
Watch out for the 18th! A stray drive gets eaten by the heather carpet and the chip up to the elevated green is a challenge, but you'll love it. Any birdie feels like you have really earned it, anywhere...
