Great afternoon out for parents and children. Mistley woods is accessible via the Village Hall, which offers free parking. The woods are hilly, the paths are all bare ground, many covered in leavers and dead wood. This brings a real earthy odour and closeness to nature in the environment. The trees are simply magnificent, including the spectacular Old Knobbley itself. Not many places to sit, nor own arises in the wood itself, so not ideal for stopping to eat. There are no let bins - the environment is natural except several wooden structures for children to play on. A fab experience.

Old Knobbley is a remarkable sight; just when you think that you've seen an old tree, then think again. The age of this venerable mature Oak is so outstandingly obvious, it's enough to make you stop & just be amazed. It's awe inspiring to visit this tranquil spot & consider all what this tree has been through. Over the centuries it's known that Old Knobbley has received a direct lightning strike amongst everything else from the fickle British weather. Nowadays this silent giant nestles in timeless forest shade.

A large tree that has been unfortunately burned but has a very strange look to it, we took a lovely picture and the tree has some mysterious history. One of the oldest trees in the uk, so it was a matter of time before I myself had to investigate this tree. Unfortunately we didn't find any witches here. Maybe next time.
