Read moreEasy to park as there is a spill over field car park. Busy carpark when surf school is on at weekends as mum's and dad's drop off. Big beach idea to play cricket etc when tide is out. No waves on my visit, however a few large rouge waves gave me impression that it was a good place in right weather conditions for both children and adults body boarding.
The only down side of the beach is the dog issue. Despite at the entrance to the beach, there is a sign. written in two of the world's most beautiful languages: English and Welsh. : "No Dogs on the Left Side of the Beach." I've come to the conclusion that this sign is nothing more than a piece of modern art. A sculpture, perhaps, designed to test the limits of human intelligence. Because, despite its undeniable clarity, a significant portion of the dog owning beac going populace seems to interpret it as a personal invitation to unleash their furry companions. I'm not sure what the solution is. Perhaps the sign needs to be more... "Accessible." Maybe we need to hire a team of professional mimes to act out the message. Or perhaps, and this is a wild thought, the sign needs to be written in crayon, with little stick figures and a big red "X" over a picture of a dog. Just so the illiterate dog owners can understand. Or,is the most likely scenario, the sign is perfectly fine, and the problem lies not with the sign, but with the people. Perhaps a simple disregard for rules in a public place is apart of normal life for these people.

Read morePoppit Sands is my favourite beach! On arrival there is a big car park which is free to use in the off season. It's £1 an hour in the summer, with other rates for longer periods and a season ticket option.
There are toilets which are clean and right next to the beach.
There is also a cafe right next to the car park, with outside seating. I haven't been in the cafe, but it seems to be very popular.
On the short walk to the beach (about a minute) you will pass the lovely RNLI shop selling all sorts of goodies, and the lifeboat station itself.
A great advantage especially for families with young children, is that the beach has a fully manned lifeguard station during the summer - they actually build it on the sand for the summer then take it down at the end of the season.
The beach is huge, with sand dunes at the back if you turn right on entering the beach. In the summer, this is the part of the beach for you if you have dogs. There is no restriction on where dogs can go in the winter.
Poppit is extremely popular with dog owners at all times of year, and it's lovely that they can run about freely and socialise with other dogs (I have two terriers) . The left side of the beach is strictly a dog free zone in the summer.
One more thing - it's a really clean beach because people like me remove any rubbish and washed up debris on a...
