We stopped here after visiting Pevensey castle next door. We have seen the cafe many times and always meant to visit. The little garden was lovely and the coffee was great. Our kids where running around the grass playing nicely in no ones way until the guy who I assume owns the place come out and had a huge moan up blaming our 2 year old of snapping a metal rod with his hands that that a bird on it. Now like most 2 year olds he couldn’t break a stick let alone a metal rod which was a tripping hazard leaning over anyways. We our selves run a successful holiday let business and yes it’s annoying when things get broken but it’s the cost of doing business and certainly not professional to not only blame someone who couldn’t have done it but keep talking and making rude comments all the way across the garden in front of other customers. Read moreLovely surprise. Today we were walking around Pevensey Castle, first time, and didn't know about the cottage. It was love at first sight, lovely old English style grounds with very nice both garden and indoor tables. The staff was remarkable, they truly care for the customers, ever so friendly and polite and they do love dogs, which was amazing as our Nuka was coming along, she became friends with one member of the staff who got her some biscuits for her 🥰🐶 We sat on the Veranda, with a mapamundi table top and the table number and a depiction of the cottage hand painted on stone. We had traditional scones, they were home made and very very yummy 😋 They have savoury options as well and they accommodate vegan options. A place with loads of heritage and character, friendly and very peaceful. Made our day!...
Read moreWhat a beautiful building and a perfect spot to stop for a cupper and cake. Sadly it's only open from.Weds to Sun. So if you go earlier in the week you shall find it closed.
Much to my disappointment. As I visited the castle on a Tuesday. I went back for tea and cake on the Thursday and I am so glad I did. Wonderful vintage atmosphere.
Tea rooms were clean and well presented. Staff were lovely and service was made in good time. You have a choice of inside or outside seating. Well behaved dogs are allowed to be outside in the garden. So if you are on a walk and need a rest I highly suggest popping in here. Prices were absolutely reasonable and I shall be returning with my family some time soon.
Home baked cakes. Sandwiches too. A choice of tea and even a choice of coffee for the coffee...
