I went here with my wife and a couple of friends. The hiking trail to reach there was amazing. We walked for about two hours to be greeted with this amazing views. I recently visited this location with my wife and a couple of friends, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. The journey began with a captivating hiking trail that left us in awe. The trail itself was nothing short of amazing, offering a perfect blend of adventure and natural beauty. We embarked on a two-hour hike, immersing ourselves in the breathtaking surroundings. The scenic vistas unfolded gradually, rewarding our efforts with stunning views at every turn. The lush greenery, towering trees, and the invigorating scent of nature created a serene atmosphere that rejuvenated our spirits. As we reached our destination, we were welcomed by an awe-inspiring sight. The views were simply breathtaking, stretching far and wide, and leaving us speechless. The effort we put into reaching this point was undoubtedly worth it. In addition to the stunning views, the location also provided a great opportunity for photography enthusiasts like us. We captured countless moments, each frame showcasing the natural splendor we were lucky enough to witness. Overall, our visit to this location was an incredible adventure filled with awe-inspiring beauty. The hiking trail leading us there was exceptional, and the views we encountered were nothing short of magnificent. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking a memorable outdoor experience that will leave you in awe of nature's wonders.

A beautiful place to spend a few hours, ample free parking at various locations on the road around the reservoir, I would recommend the formal car parks at the northern end (Norsworthy Bridge) where access to the arboretum is possible and gives a short easy walk through the plantation, some of it on board walks adjacent to streams. Dartmoor ponies roam freely in the area, take care and time on the roads, there’s no need to rush. It is possible to do a circular walk encompassing the whole reservoir, but some sections are on or adjacent to the road. At the south eastern corner a small peninsular juts into the lake where the ruins of a small manor house (Longstone Manor) can be found. The southern edge of the reservoir is formed by Burrator dam. Nearby are the remains of an old open stone conduit which once fed water to Plymouth. Toilet facilities are available near the dam, but I’m not aware of any catering facilities – take a flask with you. Plenty of scope for a full day’s hike or just an hour or so at a gentle walk.

OK so at the site there is literally loads of different paths and trails you can follow. There is parking in several areas around the reservoir depending on which path you want to take. When we went it had been raining and there was a waterfall that led underground to the reservoir... The scenery and wildlife is absolutely breathtaking and I feel that there will be lots of wildlife that exists here that we didn't see. There are facilities on the entrance/exit road and there was an ice cream van there when we went. There is plenty to see and do especially with kids, getting them to see the true wonders that exist in our world we live in. I recommend having a trip here at least once. 😉

A very pleasent place. Resivour with a dam on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Not exactly a tourist destination (it's quite out of the way to someone who lives in a typically urban environment) but it's a lovely place to walk. You can walk right down by the water's edge but watch out as there are geese that seem strangely coordinated! To my knowledge there aren't any cafes of the sort around here but I did see an Ice Cream truck by the dam, which is in turn where most people park their cars. I walked to the resivour from a place I was staying on Burrator Road. Only a 12-15 minute walk although there aren't any footpaths towards it that I know of; I walked by the side of the road.

Overall a nice, quite place to spend an...
