Small nature reserve that is doing wonders at re-establishing and preserving wetland habitats. There's a hide for birdwatchers overlooking a small lake and a footpath link to the banks of the River Witham. Plenty of birds and insect species to see alongside a variety of fauna & flora. Peaceful once you've got away from the road.
Be very careful going in and out of the small car park - the road is populated with an above average density of idiots that speed along the narrow road oblivious to everything outside their cockpit. Similarly, drive carefully along the narrow country road getting there; you're certain to encounter an obese prat wedged into a 4x4 doing 70 in the middle of the road - at least 2 in every half mile...
Sad to see some halfwits have broken down the fence protecting the reedbeds etc on the lake shores and created a footpath through the protected area. Please have some respect and use the official path round the outside to access the...
Read moreGreat little nature reserve about 10 mins from Lincoln city. It's quite small, the car park is not in a great way and floods easily, There is also a height barrier. When you enter the woodland, if you go right you will end up at the bird viewing area. It's half hut shape with various viewing windows of the lake area. The lake is often filled with a wide variety of birds to watch and photograph. If you go to the left and walk the main path you will end up at the river in about 20 mins, where there is a Jetty and a bridge. Again lots of wildlife in this area, a barn owl likes to visit this spot regularly. When I went last there was only one other person there. I saw deer, barn owl, a mumeration, swans and other birds. Great quiet spot for photographers and...
