Willingham Woods offers a peaceful, family-friendly escape with scenic trails, dog-friendly paths, and a cozy café—ideal for a relaxed day out in Lincolnshire.
Here’s a detailed look at what visitors love (and occasionally critique) about Willingham Woods:
🌲 Highlights Scenic woodland walks: The circular trail is about 3.5 km long with gentle elevation, making it perfect for walking, hiking, and even pushchairs. Dog-friendly: Many reviewers mention bringing their dogs and enjoying the open space. Just be prepared for muddy stretches in wet weather. Facilities: There's a café in the adjacent lay-by offering bacon sandwiches, coffee, and other treats, plus public toilets. Accessibility: Easy parking is available, though there are no designated accessible bays. Trails are generally well-maintained. Activities: Beyond walking, you can enjoy cycling, horse riding, orienteering, and picnicking. Picnic benches are located near the car park and ponds.
⚠️ Things to Note Trail signage: Some visitors found the paths confusing or poorly marked, occasionally leading to accidental detours. Seasonal conditions: Expect muddy patches during wetter months—good footwear is a must. Limited accessibility: While the trails are relatively flat, the lack of designated accessible parking may be a drawback for some.

Read moreIt looks beautiful, but when you try and have a good old walk in the woods, you discover that there's nowhere to actually go. It's the thinnest strip of trees described as woods, anywhere in the world! It is, however, a great place to stop and eat the ice cream you bought at Wrights of Willingham about half a mile further on. Actually, just eat your ice cream at Wrights. There's a longer walk and actual play equipment for the kids, rather than just 2 shallow pits that are probably used as toilets by local dogs and foxes.
If you own a motorbike, disregard everything I have just said. Willingham Woods is THE place to hang out before you ride wildly and dangerously down the A46 to Lincoln. There's always about 200 fellow bikers there and you're bound to find...
Read moreOn a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon in August there is a wide variety of motorcycles at the cafe. There are also lots of people using the park for running, cycling, horse riding and general family entertainment, which is always good to see. During this visit we had the pleasure of watching pigeons being released to make their return journey, which was interesting. My past two visits here have been on Bank Holiday weekends. On both occasions the bins have been overflowing. On our first visit we removed some of the rubbish and took it away for recycling just so we could close the bin's lid. Clearly the council could do more to encourage recycling and manage the waste in this very...
