Mwnt Beach is a true jewel of the Welsh coastline, and I think it should be celebrated as not only the best beach in Wales but also a contender for the top spot in the entire UK. This secluded haven offers a tranquil retreat with its pristine white sands and crystal clear inviting waters.
The beach's natural beauty is complemented by the lush green hills that surround it, creating a picturesque setting that's perfect for relaxation or a gentle stroll.
Visitors can enjoy the spectacular views from the clifftop, where the iconic Holy Cross church white chapel stands as a serene landmark. The local cafe provides a charming spot to enjoy a warm drink and copious amount of ice creams while taking in the stunning coastal scenery.
Mwnt Beach's reputation is well-deserved, with accolades such as being named one of “Europe’s top ten loveliest, hidden beaches”. It's a place where one can truly disconnect and immerse themselves in the natural wonders of the UK. This was our first time so I recommend taking food and things that you'll need to spend the whole day there.
Whether you're seeking a family-friendly day out or a quiet corner to reflect and unwind, Mwnt Beach is a destination that promises to leave a lasting impression with its unspoiled charm and breathtaking vistas.
It's not ideal for the mobility conscious though as it's got little stairs and no railings to the beach. However, there are more places to explore that offer...
Read moreCame here twice on our holiday as we loved it so much. Getting here can be a little troublesome as you arrive and leave via single lane with pull in passing places however, if you ignore that then you will be delighted by spectacular views from the top of the cliffs. There is a national trust car park where you arrive but costs £4 a day so not bad at all. There's a gradual slope down to sone toulets and a small shop selling both hot and cold food as well as buckets and spades and for the more adventurous body boards and paddleboards it is a bit pricey but they are the only shop so kinda cornered the market lol.
The beach itself you arrive down a path and steps which can get a little slippy when wet but it's worth it. The sand is very fine and free from debris. The water is a lovely clear blue and the water is warm finding a spot can be tricky if it's hot but lovely little sub trap. If you do get bored there's a lovely little church just up from the car park. Theres also a large hill top you can walk up for even more impressive views either onto the lovely sandy beach or looking out to sea where if your lucky you might see bottlenose dolphins. Really was...
Read moreBeautiful beach, cafe for drinks and food, clean toilets (no charge!). Car park is free for national trust members (just scan your card at the pay machine), slope down to the cafe/toilets then steps down to the beach. I would recommend climbing the hill, Foel y Mwnt, the views are spectacular down to Cardigan Island and towards New Quay and great for dolphin spotting. Also worth walking the path by the cafe which is also great for dolphin spotting. The surf is great for body boarding. There is WiFi up at the cafe but signal is...
