Yate Common — Attraction in Yate

Great place for dog walking. I really enjoy the walks here. There are a number of routes that can be taken with lots of wooded areas, several ponds and also big open spaces. This is the location of the 'Road to Nowhere'. There is a marked football pitch. With most entrances gated, it is also quite secure. Parking can be found in the surrounding residential roads, but there is no official car park. There is also no toilet facilities, play area or coffee shops, but you are a stones throw away from Yate Shopping Centre. Massive space for walking the dog. Easy and several accesses. However, you may need wellies because of rain puddles and mud going through the south entrance. Better in dry weather obviously. Grassy paths take you in different directions. A lot of wild flora in the hedges. Plenty of berries for the birds to nibble on. We don't see the cows grazing on the common anymore, just as well now us dog walkers use it. Well kept boundary hedges. We didn't see any litter on the common...

Love the open space here and the woods with numerous views, walks and terraine, being so near to Yate. It also has a tap for fresh water but no toilet facilities, which seems to be lacking everywhere now. Great walk if you have a dog or want a kick about in a field...
