Dyfi Furnace is a hidden gem worth stopping by, especially if you’re on your way to Aberystwyth. This historic old furnace is tucked away in a peaceful woodland setting, surrounded by a small waterfall and lush greenery — perfect for a short walk and a moment of quiet in nature. The place is well-preserved and has informative signs explaining its fascinating history as an 18th-century ironworks. There’s a free car park right next to it and no entry fee, so it’s an easy and pleasant stop for families or anyone wanting a quick break from driving. Highly recommended to visit if you’re exploring the area or passing through — a lovely spot to stretch your legs and enjoy a bit of...

The Dyfi Furnace is a historic site that dates back to the 18th century, when it was used to smelt iron ore. It was later converted into a Sawmill, powered by water from the River Einion.

The building is now closed to the public and serves as a sanctuary for Lesser Horse Shoe Bats. However, it is still worth a visit. You can park across the road in a scenic spot where you can enjoy a picnic by the stream and the waterfall. You can also see the Water Wheel and the exterior of the Furnace, and learn about its history from the information boards. There is not much else to see inside, but it is still a fascinating glimpse...

There is a waterfall to view as well where the water was redirected to run the waterwheel that ran the furnace air pump and the chopping section that crushet the various metal ore that was put in the furnace to be smelted down . The car park is free and on the other side of the road down a short lane. You can walk from the carpark to the furnace building through a small wood next...
