Lake Lurleen State Park is an older park, but I am so impressed with how well maintained it is! I run the trails and use the restrooms afterwards to change. I am always impressed how clean the facilities are. As for the trails, I love them! They are lovingly maintained by volunteers and it really shows. Even after the tough winter we had in Alabama this year they are in great shape. Hiking, biking, or running, it's a great trail. When the water warms in the late spring through early fall, there are stand up paddle boards, pedal boats, and canoes to rent. A nice beach to lay out and safety area to swim. I live close, so I can't comment on the overnight facilities, but based on the number of folks I see out here, it must be pretty nice too. Get you family and friends and get outdoors! I bet you'll love it here too!

Spent a night here while traveling in our motorhome. The RV park has pretty views and is far enough from any major highway or town that you won't hear any traffic. Our electric/water only site on the lake was a fairly level, but tight back-in for our 30' motorhome. There was just enough room to park our toad in front. It had a steep downhill stairs to the lake from the site, where there was a firepit. Lots of trails for hiking, a beach and more. We had no cell service, and of course there's no wifi or cable service. The biggest downside was that the one RV dumpstation is located far in the back of the campground where it's a tight turnaround. Why there isn't one nearer the entrance is a mystery, as there appears to be plenty of room and easy access.

I arrived at Lake Lurleen at about 7AM it opens at 7AM. Being there I could tell the way the campers are spread out they had been there awhile. It was so quiet. I drove through the park to see what else they had, just a little beach area. The place is for camping. It has to be a great place to just relax. Had I brought a tent and sleeping bag that would have been my only stop. The silence was a stress relief. Their were pull offs like Stonelick Lake which I think is pretty nice but this place is a secret.

We enjoyed our stay. Excellent check in, easy to find spot.. somewhat awkward set up based on our spot but it worked out perfect. I was able to look over the lake and watch sun set and rise from inside camper. The rest rooms/showers were very clean and the workers were in full force checking/working throughout property. This is a beautiful campsite with all the bells and whistles of luxury. The only thing I didn't like was a ranger constantly harassed people as they drove in over a beautiful bridge for not coming to a complete stop before proceeding to...
