I have to start by saying that the office assistant was a joy and seemed to truly enjoy his job! That being said, I was there with a group to rock climb. Although there weren't many set climbs, it was fun. There was a 5.7ish and a 5.11cish (I don't know the official ratings) within a few yards of each other. It was nice and easy to be able to warm up on the one and then move it to the more difficult route. There is also a fire tower there that enables you to see five counties! While there, one of the large cabins was being rented for a wedding and the other for a baby shower. There were children playing on the playground and people taking walks some with dogs and others with their special person in nature. Several stopped to watch us climb. It was a beautiful day at a...

A walk in the woods is a great way to find peace and relaxation. We found a great way to enjoy the outdoors and escape the unbearable Alabama daytime heat. Walk the trails of Palisades Park at twilight. The park is open until 9pm this time of year. We will get there around 7:30 and there is enough light to see the trail fairly well. I would suggest to become familiar with the paths by walking them in daylight first. What is fun is to try to be as quiet as possible and watch and listen to the night forest come alive. If your lucky you will hear the foxxes start calling to each other, which is a little eerie, and the deer snort and pond their hoofs. The fireflies really know how to put on a show also. Fear not and enjoy...

EVENTS: Bluegrass, gospel, & ole time country music open jam held first Thursday of each month. The Blount County Quilters Guild hosts their annual quilt show in October. Beautiful scenery! Great for photos. The trails are short, so they are good for families with little kids or people who do not want a long hike. We walked every trail in probably 30 mins. We were given a map from the host and that was very helpful. The tree trail was nice because they lable the trees as you walk. We could not figure out how to get below the cliffs to hike. We followed the old road trail far into the woods to find the walk down and couldn't find it. There were tons of parties happening. Just about every building was rented out and two pavilions were used for parties. They also had an old school from 1908 on the property.

We went to see if this is the place my son and future daughter in law want to have their wedding next year. It is gorgeous and they love it but the gentleman that is there to show you around was not very nice. We wanted to ask questions and look at the other lodges but were afraid to upset him. When we called, no one ever answered. He returned one of my calls but I was unable to answer and the message he left was rude. If he is the one that people come in contact with on a regular basis you might not get as many bookings for events.
