I took my Down’s Syndrome and deaf brother on a trip through Road Scholar, organized by the Denali Education Center. Not only was it a great experience and facility but they went way above and beyond my expectations to make my brother feel at home. They supplied not one but two ALS interpreters to make sure he understood all the lectures and discussions that were part of our trip. Food (healthy gourmet buffet) and accommodations were excellent as was the energetic and friendly staff. Field trips offered a variety of options for different activity levels and budgets. The DEC also organized our trip to Ankorage and Seward and provided great field trips, accommodations and food options in these places as well. The train ride in the window enclosed gold star car with full meals included was my favorite along with the visit to a sled dog kennel where we got to play with puppies.
