This place does provide wonderful views of Denali--you just have to be patient if the mountain is hidden behind the clouds. But the wait is worth it. A few hours wait mage all the difference. You can camp overnight in the parking lot for $20, and they have an electric pay station, which is convenient. They do have several (maybe 15) larger parking spaces for bigger RVs and the vehicles pulling them. If you just want to come for a few hours to have lunch or cute the mountain, there is a $5 day use fee. The web page about the place says there is water, but that is no longer true. There are four pit toilets, though, and several picnic tables and fire pits. There are also benches and scopes to get a closer view of the mountains, but you're close enough to see a lot of detail even without them. We stayed one night on a Monday in August and it was quiet, peaceful, and not overly crowded. You can hike up a short path for about 5 minutes to get a higher view, but the one below is great too. I'd probably give 5 stars if there were water as advertised, and if it...

Approximately 3 hour drive from Anchorage, this stop offers amazing views of the tallest mountain in the Americas. If you're visiting denali national park, you must stop here before heading to the park. The stop also has binoculars to view the mountain close and includes an infographic of all the peaks you can see. Plan your trip on a clear day and you will see the full mountain range.
There's a short 5 minute hike up to another viewpoint that offers even better views so don't miss it.
The stop also has restrooms. I recommend wearing full sleeves to avoid any mosquito bites if you plan on...
Read moreI would have rated 5 stars had we been able to see Denali. It was hazy, which was weird/unusual? Found out later while in Denali NP from a tour guide the low visibility was due to several fires west of the park. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful viewpoint of the Alaska range.
UPDATE: On our way back south, we could see Denali's north side quite clearly, so we thought we would stop at the south viewpoint and check it out. It was defintely hazier from the south side, but at least we could see the mountain! Not quite enough to give 5...
