There are several trails accessible from this trailhead, but the most traveled is the Flattop Mountain trail. Most of the trail is well marked and generally wide (though it can be steep in places) making it not particularly difficult if one takes their time. The biggest drawback of this trail is how popular and crowded it is. While it's conveniently located just outside of Anchorage, there's Arctic Valley to the north, and Bird Ridge and the Turnagain trails to the south, each about 10 minutes out of town that offer equally wonderful hikes with...

The top is flat, just like its name, and there are plenty of places to take pictures and rest along the way. The climb up will take the average person about 2.5 hours, and about an hour for the climb down. This could be a half day adventure but you probably won’t want to do...
