Point Woronzof is the place to be. You can watch the planes come in (they fly right over your head) and watch the tourists who don't read the signs about unstable bluffs, take pictures of themselves on the unstable bluffs. It's a hodgepodge of craziness from the tourists and the sane of the locals who are just trying to walk along the beach and do the trails. My particular favorite is watching the tourists try to figure out how to open the bear proof trash cans. Always a crowd favorite. That and them thinking that the signs about walking on the mud flats (DON'T DO IT!) are just all hyperbole. The signs are there for a reason, the reason being many people die every year thinking they can walk on the mud. Spoiler alert: You can't and you die. 10/10 would go again. Not banned because it's a open area and I'm...

What a view and what an odd place.

Point Woronzof Overlook offers an incredible view of a distant Downtown Anchorage, Fire Island, and the bottom of airplanes landing into Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

The path down to the water is mostly paved until it turns to rock, so please be careful if you need a solid ground. If you do walk down to the water you'll notice the bright highlighter colors of spray paint all over the place. I'm not sure if this is considered art or vandalism.

There are no benches here, so look for another area to bring a lunch unless you...

Best place in town to watch the sunset and to see MOOSE! I’ve lived here most my life and often drive down to point woronzof and continue driving alongside the airport until the road ends. This is the best place for moose viewing I’m not sure if they just enjoy the white noise of the airplanes taking off or the wind to shoo mosquitos but they love it back here. My record of moose in one night just on that strip is 11! But pls if you’re visiting stay in...

Scenic viewpoint at the north end of one of Anchorage airports runways. It's a great place to view sunsets and watch aircraft. The Tony Knowles Coastal trail passes through and there is access to the rocky beach along Knik Arm. In summer it can get crowded, especially towards sunset. In winter not so much and huge ice may accumulate along the shore, which is interesting in itself to explore. Good chance to see moose year round, eagles during warmer season.
