My husband and I visited this exceptional and unique wildlife excursion that we booked from a cruise. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. ** We have been on over 22 cruises, and, for me, this was, by far, the very best shore excursion that I have ever taken. Steve Kroschel is dynamic, energetic, entertaining, enthusiastic, hilarious, and hospitable, as he greets his visitors at the front gate, and provides personally guided tours, and kept us entertained with fascinating stories about the animals. Steve takes exceptional care of all the animals he has rescued and houses them in their natural habitat, and his love for the animals is evident. Visitors get to meet a bear, snowy owl, lynx, wolves, mink, porcupine, wolverine, moose, and foxes close up. We were invited to get up very close to some animals and pet them and feed them. I wish I could have kissed each animal. They were all amazing and incredible and beautiful. Steve has developed a personal rapport with each of his animals using a unique language that only the animal seems to understand and respond to. LOL I just wish I remembered all the names of all the animals, and I also wish we had time to visit the gift shop. We would have purchased so many unique souvenirs. This was such a fascinating and entertaining experience, and we will definitely visit this refuge again. It was worth every dime. What a delightful and blissful experience. George and Theresa...
Read moreI went on this excursion because my friend had this on her bucket list, really didn’t want to go. I was so glad I did! This was hands down THE best excursion I’ve ever been on in all of my cruise travels. The experience was engaging-right from the moment we entered the property. Patrick was informative and a wonderful start to this amazing visit. His relationship with the wolves was mesmerizing. Then you get to meet The Host, Mr. Kroschel. I was blown away by the depth and breadth of his knowledge and by just how much he truly cares. He wears it like the incredible badge of honor it is. His animals are beautifully housed, the area looking as if it were put together by a mad genius-which it was. I was immediately smitten. With all of it. Lock, stock and barrel, as my Gram used to say. The time seemed to be over in a blink and I was sad and reluctant to leave. The connection you felt coming from him; connection to his animals, his surroundings and his guests was laser sharp and awe-inspiring to witness-that’s how I felt-I was witnessing true genius and great heart. I left a...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Kroschel as one of our excursions on our Alaskan cruise and hands down it was by far our favorite experience of the whole trip. Steve and Mario are hilarious, knowledgeable, informative, outgoing, and have a very passionate relationship with all of the creatures in their care. They are very kind and giving and make you feel very welcomed to their wildlife refuge. Not only do you get to see some very amazing animals up close and personal but you also get to have once-in-a-lifetime experiences. My wife and I got to pet a wolverine, pet a red fox, pet a baby caribou, kiss a moose (let it eat a carrot out of your mouth), and feed reindeer. They also have a little shop of souvenirs that are made by them which is not only a fun way to remember the experiences we had but is also a great way to contribute to the continuing care of the spectacular animals in the refuge. We will never forget the amazing experience we had here and if we are ever back in Alaska we will definitely prioritize visiting...
