Great little strip of beach for dogs to run free. Been going there for many years. This past time we had almost a private beach because we went at 8 AM on a cold windy morning. It is usually windy there, so make sure you have your layers! Some days and times are busier and you will have tons of dogs and even bay swimmers coming out of the waters. Some dogs will be catching sticks from the water. There is a bike path and hiking trails, and Albany bulk is a popular sightseeing destination. We go right to the beach area for the dogs to run. There are trash cans for your poop bags. It is not a totally enclosed area so you must have some voice control. No water station so bring your own. There are public restrooms. There are two parking areas. The first one is dilapidate so keep driving to the back and you will find the fresh pavement.

So I found that it is hard to find a beach that allows pets in the Oakland/Alameda area. This was about a 40 minute drive for us. There was not very many people there when we first arrived but the beach quickly became crowed with lots of dogs and people. There is a sign on the beach telling about up coming closures so make sure you check before you go. Nobody had their pet on a leash in the beach area and all the dogs seemed to be acting fine. This is all new to me so I was not sure about letting my dog run loose so I kept him leashed. It got a little overwhelming for me when there was a large number of dogs so we decided to cut the visit short.

I love going here on hot days. All the dogs are usually off leash but I've never seen a fight before, they're all focused on playing or playing with the water. But bring something to sit on like a blanket! And if you can't handle random dogs going up to you or going on you, i suggest you don't come. It's not that the owners are responsible it's just that the dogs are excited.

It all depends on the wind. The park itself has trails which would be fun any day for a walk or bike ride, but if youâre looking to lounge on the beach for a few hours, Albany Beach may not be the best for you. Now if you have a dog, they would love it! I wouldnât want to picnic here unless it was a calm day. Beautiful views of the city!

Beautiful beach with a lot of views. There are a lot of off leash dogs, so I'm going to train my dog before we go there again so he can run and play too. Parking can take a bit to find. But if you're patient, you'll find a spot, and they're all close to the beach. Free parking. I don't know what the bathroom/ shower situation is though.

Recently expanded beach with sand (lots of algae) and great walking path and parking. Lots of dogs enjoying the water. Some folks were swimming, too! Iâve lived in Albany for almost 30 years now and the beach was never much to speak of. Now thanks to the Bay Trail project and (I think) the Sierra Club itâs a very lovely place.
